Is it still too late to join this as a player? I'm interested either making an

I noticed in reading throughout the books, that the Eladrin refer to humans as mortals. Does this mean they are immortal in some way--even if that immortality is a Buddhist style rebirth (as in "reborn" with none of your memories remaining)?

Eladrin sword-mage or warlock... Though since I have a test tomorrow in college, I won't be able to make it until Tuesday. If all the players are in I'll become a "READER" instead.

--- Answer the following questions in the Voice of your character ---

1. Why are you an adventurer?

An "adventurer?" I am no such thing... If you must know, my role is equivalent to what the mortals call a "knight." Though that name is not entirely accurate as my stature also focuses upon the arcane arts... But I digress. I've been sent from the Feywild by those of a high position within my noble house, to reclaim a certain item which is believed to have been stolen eons ago. No, I will not further disclose the nature of this "item."

2. You have the choice of saving an innocent girl or killing the wizard that holds her captive. Choosing to save the girl ensures the wizard escapes, leaving no trail for you to track. Choosing to kill the wizard ensures the death of the girl. Which do you do and why?

Quite a quandary that... If this wizard has broken the law, I'd be honored bond to act accordingly... Assuming that there is indeed a legal need of the wizards death, and if the circumstance did not allow for a proper judge; ideally I'd teleport between the two, pushing the girl to safety whilst striking a death blow to the "wizard" simultaneously. Then again... If this wizard were but a minute away from slaughtering hundreds to thousands of lives--perhaps using the girl as some form of ritualistic sacrifice--my tact would have to focus upon his or her extermination...

3. How do you like your eggs cooked and why?

I prefer my eggs to be the product of a Fey touched Ostrich, cooked through magically heated stone, with a dash of spices from the finest peppers native to the Feywild, and scrambled with an added mix of Caviar--taken from Fey-salmon. Why you ask? It is an acquired taste among the highborn members of my kin. I'd doubt mortals such as yourself can appreciate it.

4. If you were a king/queen, what would be your first edict?

Such would be a set of laws, that are intend to both insure any cities greater protection against the denizens of the Fey dark and balance the kingdoms judicial system at large.

5. What is your one regret in life?

A regret, you ask me? Hmm... Can't say I have one of those yet. Perhaps agreeing to this mission from my kin--and the temporarily leave from the Feywild it causes--may or may not become my first experience of "regret." Time will tell, I'm sure...

Still looking for one more player. I'm really thinking of having two bards in the group, since I've accepted one already, and there's another really, REALLY good bard submission that I would kill to have in the group, but I'm worried the two characters would be stepping on each other's toes too much.

Name: Stranger
Race: Warforged
Class: Wizard

Background/History: Stranger is a creature of almost pure logic. He has devoted his considerable lifespan to a near single-minded acquisition of new understanding. He considers his most powerful resource to be patience, sometimes going for a stalemate and starving his enemies rather then engage in a hard battle.
Created for a war long ago he worked with others of his kind to die and kill when ordered.
As his companions died out, he contemplated his own consciousness and mortality. Deciding he should do something of more value, but not knowing what it is he should do. He leaves on a long journey of self improvement.

1. Why are you an adventurer? Very little is gained by cloistering oneself. Traveling and making friends has proved a very efficient way to obtain new knowledge.

2. You have the choice of saving an innocent girl or killing the wizard that holds her captive. Choosing to save the girl ensures the wizard escapes, leaving no trail for you to track. Choosing to kill the wizard ensures the death of the girl. Which do you do and why?
Imposable to answer correctly without more information, but decisions are never made with perfect information, so I will make assumptions.
Killing the wizard would lose a possible source of new information. If that also kills the girl, then two sources are lost with no gain. Saving the girl would be the correct choice if the choices are binary. Immobilizing the wizard without harming him, or a magic missile to the girl's knee would have a better outcome with more choices.

3. How do you like your eggs cooked and why? Soaked in a solution of ash, brine, and pickling lime for 10 days. This creates eggs with increased flavor that do not go bad with age.
Having no need for food myself I have never eaten eggs, but they can be useful in bartering and last longer then most food when prepared this way.

4. If you were a king/queen, what would be your first edict? I can think of no more banal, uninteresting task then governing. I would just as soon stand on my head then be involved in bureaucracy.
If given the responsibility, my first act would be to abolish the monarchy, and create a meritocracy.

5. What is your one regret in life? My youth was spent in a state of constant bloodshed, that nether worked for the common good or progressed my personal development.

Flautist Wizard Extraordinaire

1. Why are you an adventurer? "All of life is an adventure, so who isn't one yah nob! It may well be that you believe in hard work, but, my work is entertainment, so I'll play for my supper and call that my work. I do enjoy pretty colors and lights so I became a wizard to. What an adventure it has been!"
2. You have the choice of saving an innocent girl or killing the wizard that holds her captive. Choosing to save the girl ensures the wizard escapes, leaving no trail for you to track. Choosing to kill the wizard ensures the death of the girl. Which do you do and why? "How pretty is the girl?" Yule yucks this up as much as he can then he gets dramatically serious, "You never know that wizard might have some pretty nice spells and treasure. Hard choice. I'd certainly have to impress upon this young ravishing beauty that I was making a grand sacrifice on her behalf. I suppose with the stage set and some good music playing in accompaniment, I'd rescue the girl. Coming off the hero has a nice panache to it."
3. How do you like your eggs cooked and why? "I simply love eggs! Bacon, eggs, toast, marmalade, and braised tomato! The perfect breakfast! I like then over-easy to run all over everything, Yes! And then sop it up with the toast, lovely!"
4. If you were a king/queen, what would be your first edict? "I would declare a day of the week in the middle for entertainment and relaxation and forbid non related work. So many people don't know how to enjoy their lives. It worries me. I'd have a lot of other edicts to. All my palace guards would be women. I could go on an on ..."
5. What is your one regret in life? "That's a hard one. Regret is not my style. I've done it. Regrets usually come form not choosing to act, I've found. I just don't have that problem. I have hundreds of tiny little regrets maybe about what was done, but maybe, hmmm, never receiving the acclimation of my parents. That will have to do. Very sad!" Yule begins blowing a hauntingly sad melody on his flute and dances away.

Yule Bannon

The paths and many lures of arcane magic are littered with the corpses of less than worthy hopeful wizards. The halls of many magical guilds throughout the land are likewise littered with wizards that have vast command of arcane forces. Somewhere in the middle is a special realm where dabblers and would-be wizards don that mantle despite the compunctions of their peers. A world of fallibility is the inevitable result.

As a young man Yule had been enraged when bullies pushed him around. He always knew that he was destined for greatness. He vowed many Yulees over that he would escape the conditions of his youth and ascend into a brighter magical world. At age 10 all those vows seem like manifest destiny. Yule joined a local fellow, Erin Hatch, who showed his magic in the streets. Yule happily left home and became his apprentice.

Five years later Yule was well aware that the man he was roughly enslaved to was only a charlatan and had the command of just a few tricks, if that, in terms of true magic. Despite the fact that he had learned much from the man and in truth Erin was not evil, Yule wanted more for himself and left in search of a real guildhall or a real wizard.

A few years after that, Yule found himself applying for apprenticeships in a large city but was turned down repeatedly as being too old. He chafed at this and persistently bothered the members of the Thumb War guild until they had the city watch consistently beat him up. Yule’s dogged persistence was admired by a travelling Binder named Evadne Wallace. Evadne was an older woman but the two fell into a dual relationship relatively quickly. After a while travelling with her it was clear the woman was training Yule slowly just to keep him around. One night Yule simply packed his bags and was gone.

He traveled to another major city and applied there. They told him they were a school for wizards only and that he would have to pursue binding on his own. He agreed and enrolled. His first few years were tumultuous. Trouble seemed to seek him out. He couldn’t quite earn his staff and the other wizards of the guild treated him with little respect. His cheerful attitude and winning personality made him a favorite with the local social set and he often neglected studies to pal around with his human and elven buddies in the cool crowd he hung with.

Due to his typically reckless nature he was at one point dating 3 women. Two humans, one a mage from the guild, and one a street rogue. The third woman was an eladrin and she was charmed by Yule’ flute playing and irascible manner. Trouble was, the women were all the jealous type and unbeknownst to Yule, all of them were fairly influential power brokers.

Alicia Grendal was a 7th circle wizard of the tower and a sitter in the hall’s ruling council. She was a social butterfly, yes, but gullible, and when taken, prone to fits of jealousy and rage. Uru Yatali had a heart as dark as her skin. She was not so much jealous as controlling and she had known about Alicia and really didn’t care as long as she spent the Yulee she wanted with Yule. It was the eladrin though, Istrael Leyafindim, that was the spark that started the disaster. Istrael was no fool and with her longevity all relationships, especially those with humans take on a transient sort of feeling.
Her flirtations at first had not been taken but the other women as serious in that light. Eventually though, jealousy flared in all three women and Yule was caught in the middle and forced to make some fast choices. Everything came out when they were all sitting in their favorite pub, waiting for a famous elven bardess, a friend of Istrael’s to start singing. Yule had offered to accompany the beautiful bard with his flute, and, well, matters got out of hand fast.

It came down to demeanor, action, judgment, and result. Alicia did not have to burn the entire bar down. The group had hung out at the Shaking Weasel for over a year now. The place was an icon in the city. No excuse for that. A dozen folks were badly injured and Istrael was hurt trying to help others escape. Uru forced Alicia to teleport away when the whole argument turned all 4 women into combatants in one way or another. Then she came after Istrael and would have killed the elf if not for the presence of the bard whose healing words saved Istrael more than once. Yule himself got between the two of them and was struck many Yulees with daggers, eventually poison ones. He had had no idea that Uru would go that far.

Istrael, Deneitha, the bard, and Yule together finally fought Uru off just as her fellow guildsmen showed up to assist her. Yule had continuously separated the two but he was almost down and so was Uru now. Her guildmates dragged her off with threats of reprisals as their only active part. Istrael and Deneitha could not alone attend to Yule’s wounds. He was rushed to the embassy where elven healers could assist.

It turned out that Istrael was something of a princess of the fey and her high station demanded recompense for Yule’s brave actions. He was awareded a special familiar, a coure attendant, named simply “Ish”. The little thing seemed like a tiny fairy eladrin. Yule and Ish became friends very quickly. But the elven court was also adamant that Istrael break off her dalliance with this unsuitable human wizard, Yule. To save face Istrael left to spend Yulee amid her people, but she promised to say in touch with Yule. He was a little heartbroken. Three women all the way down to zero. But Istrael was the only one he could be serious about now. Alicia and Uru had shown very dark characters and Yule was simply not that way.

In Yulee, despite his lazy approach and social leanings, Yule finished his wizard’s training and became a 1st circle wizard. He decide he missed the road and began a career travelling about and poking his nose into things whenever he could. He played his flute for small coin and did some light adventuring for the big takes. Eventually, he heard about goings on around Wyvern Mountain and decided to check it out …
