Whistle Fight!

As Jared strikes out with his attack, the tentacled beast takes advantage of him while he summons his gloom-pact power. The darkmantle
5 damage
smacks Jared again, just as it did when Jared's face had another attached to it. After Jared's attack strikes the beastie, it vanishes from sight as the others did. Some more light comes back, but not in the right places to help anyone out.

Seeing the darkmantles brought back horrific memories for Turag. The dying screams of his companions still haunted him. Those around him, if looking directly at him might notice that his pants are now a darker shade. He turns to flee, to hide. ...Somewhere! But then the memories are replaced by more recent ones. The Cat Lord had a firm grip on his....sensitives. "Start using 'em, or just chop them off and cry in a corner."

She was right.

A violently shaking hand reached for the battle axe on his side and pulled it from it slip. He turned back to face the battle and gingerly made his way forward, passing John and then hugging the pillar. He peered around the corner to see one of the...abominations...floating.

wwwwwwwwaaaaaaarrrrrrhhhh

An ear piercing shriek filled the hallways. It was all he could muster as a battle cry in his freighted state. He barreled towards the creature swinging his axe wildly. In his heightened sense of terror Turag forgot to do one thing when attacking the Darkmantle. Open his eyes and aim for the thing. The attack went wide and an overwhelming uncertainty once again came crashing over him. Every fiber of his being told him to run. This time Turag did not think that that was such a bad idea.

Turag, Interrupted....

As Turag starts his trip he doesn't even notice the tentacle that materializes next to him. It misses and Turag continues forward. As he is passing John he feels something

strike the back of his head. He glances back to see a darkmantle appearing right next to John. Floating there in the air.

Vicky

"Be careful. They will reappear in a moment," Vicky calls out to her allies. She still remembers the feeling from the last fight with these things. Not only that, she remembers battles with these things in past lives. Even dying to one once. For some reason, this does not creep her out nearly as much as she would've thought.

Turag's charge surprises her. 'Was he cornered back there?' she catches herself wondering.

Not wasting more time wondering, she puts her mind to work to get rid of the beasts. She targets the only one still visible. Reaching into her mind, she pulls forth unfamiliar power. She pits her will against the darkmantle, trying to cause it pain and making it hard for it to move. The sudden surge of power in her mind takes her somewhat by surprise, particularly because it feels so good.

Whistle Fight! - Round 2

Jared waves his arms around as the darkmantle settles on him. "Mmmfmff MFff!"

Lost in his own thoughts ZhuGuan is completely unprepared until the shadow silhouette is already upon him. It's tentacled mantle engulfing the giant half-elf's head. Muffled shouts can be heard as he struggles to rip the creature off of him.
He bites hard into one of the creatures leathery appendages causing it enough pain to allow him to rip it off of his head. Making a quick survey of their situation he settles on helping the one most outnumbered and with the worst monster weight to ally weight ratio.

A spark of energy surges from Guan to his weapon as he charges forth. His halberd vibrates in his hands, as if ready to reverberate his heroic vigor into his foes. His weapon becomes hot with static fury. It's edges blur and hum as he wields it. "Damn you and your whistling. I've half a mind to stick you instead," he says without malice after charging down the hallway and cutting at the creature holding Jared's head in it's own embrace.

As ZhuGuan Yu strikes the Darkmantle, it activates it's darkjump and vanishes from sight, leaving Jared free from the grabby tentacles. As it flees from Guan's attack, the halfling spits on the floor. "Yuck! I've just been snogged by a giant bat-thing!"

Richard strains to see in the dark, "What foul creatures are these?" he shouts.

He quickly sees images of them run through his mind. Information on the creatures had been stored in some of the potions he drank upon first entering the complex. He now knows everything he can think of about these creatures. Richard stands his ground and starts his assault on the hovering beasts in front of him. Richard cuts into his target and it vanishes from his sight.

John smiles as he pulls out his sword, "What? We're not going to talk to them first?" John then swipes at the darkmantle as he calls the power of the earth itself. John too cuts into his target and it teleports to safety; out of sight.

Ready for a fight and undeterred by his own newly native element - darkness - Styg moves to protect Vicky and lend aid to Richard. When he sees the odd flying flapping leathery creatures he is so sicked he unleashes a bit of dread along with his eldritch strike against the foul thing flying closest to himself.

Richard sees Styg coming to assist, "Lets destroy these foul creatures," he shouts.

Styg utters, "Huzzah! What manner of beast is this?" Styg moves around the corner and slices into the other tentacled monster as it threatens Richard, and though he hits, it didn't seem as though his attack was as effective as it should have been. It survives the onslaught and his eldritch forces slide it to where it can be more easily surrounded. It too blinks out of sight, so it is hard to tell how effective it truly was. As some of the creatures vanish, some of the heroes find themselves back in normal light, but not many of them.

"Be careful. They will reappear in a moment," Vicky calls out to her allies. She still remembers the feeling from the last fight with these things. Not only that, she remembers battles with these things in past lives. Even dying to one once. For some reason, this does not creep her out nearly as much as she would've thought.

With a flick of his wrist, Jared sends a stream of shadow from him towards a dark mantle. The shadow forms into a giant hound at the last moment, and emits a haunting howl as it leaps towards the flying beast. As Jared strikes out with his attack, the tentacled beast takes advantage of him while he summons his gloom-pact power. The darkmantle

John grins as Turag runs past him "Did we pick up a different orc on accident?"

Turag's charge surprises Vicky as much as it surprised John. 'Was he cornered back there?' she catches herself wondering.

Not wasting more time wondering, she puts her mind to work to get rid of the beasts. She targets the only one still visible. Reaching into her mind, she pulls forth unfamiliar power. For a moment, everything is well lit, but then they start reappearing and causing the lights to dim again. The first one appears next to Guan and lets out a horrible shrill shriek. The sonic attack seems to cause

pain to Turag and Jared, but Guan is unaffected by the loud noise. Jared looks bad. He looks like he could collapse at any second.

Two of them swarm John, both trying to latch onto him, but the undead warrior fights them off. The last one targets the dazed Turag. It does indeed latch onto the panicking orc warrior. Turag can't help but think that this is the best reason there is to justify running away as it starts

biting at his face.

It looks like Vicky, Styg and Richard have been left alone up in their corner, but now everyone is shrouded in dim light again. there is no sign of two of the darkmantles. They do not reappear as the others did.

John Clarke - Eladrin Revenant Hybrid (Warden/Swordmage)

John growls in delight as the darkmantles swarm him "COME ON I"LL KILL ALL OF YOU!"
