Styg charges over towards Vicky and strikes down the wounded darkmantle, killing it. It falls to the ground next to Styg and twitches a bit. John frowns as the battle come close to ending. Seeing the darkmantle die, John smiles as an aura of death surrounds him and his blade. Vicky is first surprised by the darkmantle slamming its head against the wall, and then by Styg's sudden action. "Thanks," she says to her savior.
She notices a darkmantle creeping up on Jared. Focusing her will again, she mentally lashes out at it. Unfortunately, she fails to concentrate hard enough. The darkmantle easily shrugs off the feeble attack.
"Pull yourself together," ZhuGuan curses at Turag before focusing on the remaining creatures.
ZhuGuan, a blur of motion, strikes at the creature near Jared. Attempting to strike at the creature from an impossible distance. His blade cuts into the creature, and it vanishes from next to Jared. They can't be sure where it will show up, but they can only teleport to dark or dim places, so it can't be far. The area around Jared and Guan lights up again. Only John and a few of the others are hindered by dim lights now.
Turag stands up and charges up next to John and finishes off the darkmantle he is fighting. Leaving only one darkmantle left, the one that just vanished a few seconds ago. The lighting in the hallway is restored with all the darkmantles either dead or missing.
John gives a glare at Turag as his urge to kill rises. "That was my kill!" Turag does not hear John speaking to him over the wet smacking noise as his axe continues to bite into the still quivering carcass of the darkmantle, and his own anguished wails.
Richard makes his way towards Jared and readies himself to attack the remaining darkmantle. When Richard reaches Jared he realizes that the darkmantle has blinked out. "Ser Jared are you well? Stick with me, we should make our way back to the others, but keep any eye out for more of blasted beasts."
Richard prepares to head back up the corridor with Jared in toe, keeping an eye out for an attack. Jared and Richard regroup closer to the others. Jared turns to see if Guan is coming and notices the light growing dim behind the half-elf. Then he sees the floating tentacled horror come up behind Guan, still crackling with electricity from the slayer's strangely enhanced attack. Luckily for Guan, the creature had to move so far that it doesn't get to strike out at him immediately.
Jared raises his rod at the darkmantle. The shadows swirl around the last darkmantle. It's aberrant brain is assaulted by horrifying memories. It starts to recoil in fear, but instead collapses to the ground, dead from sheer terror. There is still one darkmantle unaccounted for, but since it hasn't appeared in so long it either fled or crawled off and died.
