Character Revisions

The only problem I see is the limitation to my agility. First of all, no race that I know of does that. Secondly, agility being limited to a d6 is SEVERELY hampering. Since Agility is arguably the most useful of all the stats, a d6 limitation would kill me, or so I foresee. Perhaps a d8 limitation? Even that, though, is unprecedented as I stated above.

Okay, well then this should be a give and take sir if you don't find his suggestions usable then you should possibly supply an alternative based on your views and what you want.

Give & Take

Oh, Im more than willing to play the give and take game. I'm just saying that limiting a stat seems unfair in the long run. Agility determines shooting, fighting, throwing, and in turn parry. This means that by limiting my stat to a d6, you limit all of my combat ability as well aside from spellcasting. No other characters will be getting such a disadvantage.

Now, if it pleases the court, due to my many bonuses from my race I think it only fair for some severe caps to be placed. But this could be accomplished in less life-altering ways. For instance, you could make me take a number of points worth of Hindrances (say 10?) and allow me none of the benefits those points would normally provide. I would be gaining a large amount of penalties to go along with my significant benefits, but in a way that will require roleplaying for me and not crippling me into feeble-dom.

Does that seem "give and take" enough? Because I have a large number of other suggestions for hampering myself if need be. I was only focusing on the positive to start with so that I knew what a fair price for the benefits would be. I'm not here to cheat the GM out of awesome toys. Besides, we were told we'd be worked with, and I have every intention of being pliable to the GM's wishes.

Cool deal man, I dig I'm not the GM it just came across as Mweh ( no insult intended ) to me. Wanting mechanical bonuses without any mechanical detriment? And then making the statement that no one else would have such hindrances? No one else has the bonuses either sir ( your character has a tooooon of special stuff) . . . . My race has a -1 toughness which sucks but it fits ( and not my original vision but the new vision that I came to with the bossman)

Again no offense meant and sorry for being all weird man

Look, you want to give me a Penalty? Fine. A straight parry detriment would be devastating, but not beyond my own fixing. Plus it would work in the stiffness he was going for with the armor. Also, consider the fact that the +4 armor would be my ONLY armor. I urge you to tell me how I'm gonna fit more armor over what you see in the picture.

You want mechanical penalty? Why? I didn't suggest an increased strength. I was offered it. I suggested raising my racial capacity, which still requires my time and devotion into raising. It'll be a LONG time coming to see that stat cap even come into play. Bedsides just the strength, most of those other abilities are common sense for most non-human races. Dwarves are likely to have infravision, as well as all other subterranean creatures. ALL creature races should have Natural Weapons, or else you're disregarding the natural order of survival.

Everything else can be taken care of by applying the Hindrance Penalty I talked about before. Again, I wasn't looking for all the cool toys I could get without penalty. I had a concept, I asked for what made sense for that concept, and I am more than willing to accept detriment that makes sense for what I'm getting.

If you had wanted to do the same, it was offered and you could have taken it. For instance, you're a faun. Fauns have horns. Natural Weapon right there. Low Light Vision makes sense for all woodland creatures. Depending on your choice of mythology, you could argue a faun as either Small or Large in size. If you headbutt someone, you could even argue having the Stun ability, again depending on your mythology. And that's just from the Monster Abilities. That isn't even taking regular Edges or Hindrances into consideration, let alone house rulings.

Don't assume that just because I am asking for a lot that I am unwilling to take a lot of detriment as well.

Nah man I'm completely fine with my guy, and his stats, an I think he fits what I intended as well as the world we're building towards. Being that we're paranormal investigators. The head but / horns was never a part of my idea charisma and magic was and I got it at a price . . . . Totally fair.

I didn't mean to incite an argument hoss, just a reasoned rethinking on your stance is all. And seeing as how it wasn't my place to do so I apologize that's between you and the gm.

Again sorry if I offended

You're right. It wasn't your place to have me rethink my stance, especially considering that you didn't know my stance in its entirety. It is between the Gm and I, and my character will be balanced prior to the game starting I assure you.

Having said that, I accept the fact that this thread is public and that if I had wanted to discuss this without the input of other players, I should have sent the GM a private message. On that note, I thought this would give other players a chance to know that I wasn't strong-arming the GM and to give their input as well.

I accept that you did not come looking for a fight, just as I accept your opinion and take it into consideration. But know this: I'm no cheat. I will play fairly, and it is the GM's decision on what that means. I will take no benefit without considering possible implications. I will make sure that every advantage is countered by a disadvantage equally. BUT I do not believe that it is wrong to ask for so much. And, if the GM thought I was asking for too much, then he never would have added me to the game.

Consider me not offended, but suspicious of your presumptions regarding my honor as a gamer.

Oh, and if you think that this little spat has me in a position to dislike you in the game, consider this:

Words I love to live by.

Wow, you sir are a trip

Is THAT meant to offend? It sounded like it, but with you I don't think I can assume anything. Especially your intentions.
