Avengers: Warlord of Baluur #2 (of 3)

You have gathered in the Negative Zone watch station to observe the results of the warhead’s detonation. Without warning, the view screen fills with light as the bomb explodes. The computer does not even have time to issue a warning as the tremendous shockwave slams into the Negative Zone portal.

Ouch.
Rad takes the opportunity to remind everyone he wanted to secure the portal locks before they all left the first time.
The blast was Unearthly in intensity, but dampened by the Monstrous strength explosion dampening equipment in the Negative Zone Portal Room. Everyone takes 25 points of damage which can be further reduced by beta cloth, density control, and/or body armor, if applicable.

After a series of explosive chain reactions, the Negative Zone appears to have returned to “normal”.
Watching the monitors, you see the haggard Baluurian vessels leave the Distortion Area and regroup in the Negative Zone. There are certainly fewer ships than before. Apparently, some did not survive the shockwave. Nevertheless, victory is yours!

Pulsar makes a quick check to see if anyone was badly injured by the explosion. Of course, besides giving him the somewhat jittery mien of a starbucks overdose, the explosion did him no harm at all.

Fortunately, no one was badly injured. Rad and Beorn were momentarily staggered by the impact of the explosion's force, while 'Star and Wyatt (officially "on-duty" in the old Thing suit Ben Grimm used to wear while stuck in his human form for a while -- sans helmet) suffered only negligable effects.

Although now somewhat runny, as no one though fast enough to freeze it as it began to melt, Bova's baked Alaska is amazing. Is that home made ice cream with little bits of real vanilla bean in there?

Suddenly, a blaring alarm reveals that someone is trying to contact you on the SHIELD waveband.
Nick Fury appears on a monitor, brandishing a long, bloody gash across his face, and a uniform which has been mostly burned away, revealing an Austin Powers-like hairy chest reminiscent of black shag carpeting. In a weak voice, he says ”Enemy vessel has just broken off attack…heavy casualties…need you here…” Agent 13, also looking a little worse for the wear, steps to Nick’s side.

From the look of the scenery around him, Nick is still on the SHIELD sattelite, in orbit. Agent 13, by his side, hand him something...gause or cloth or something similar, which he presses to his head. "Prepare for teleportation...", he says.
Thinking quickly, Wyatt Wingfoot takes a BIG step back from the rest of you...

CUT SCENE

The remaining Avengers and Fantastic Four members stand on teh grounds outside the Xavier Institute which looks like someone punched a hole through the front of the building. Never really strong allies, the Avengers and F4 have always been seen as the "white hats" good guys, while the X-Men, while definately not villians, are more of the "gray hat" type...
As a result, meetings between the X-Men and these other groups are usually cold and to the point, lacking the comaraderie and warmth you've seen between different Avengers teams and the FF in the past.
Everyting seems to be under control now; injuries were only minor and the X-Men make a point of thanking the heroes, but telling them that they can take care of their own. Some students are rallying around teh more popular heroes (like She Hulk) and asking for autographs. She happily obliges them.
It seems some large, burly, purple gut shot down from the sky, puched a hole through the mansion, and caused general havok until he found what he was looking for, and then just left. The X-Men claim to have no idea what was taken. Since Professor X is dead, there's no telling what sort of strange stuff he may have kept secluded and not told the rest of his staff about.
The X-Men and the other heroes part ways, coldly. The rest of the F4 and Avengers are on their way back to F4 HQ now.

END CUT SCENE

Energystar rolls her eyes as the teleportation takes place.

"I am getting a little sick of being zapped from place to place"

Beorn, still not wearing the suit he had been given because he felt a little funny with all his parts showing, was unfazed by the transport - after all, he had gone mad from that once, but it was long ago. He did it fairly often now.

That didn't make him any more comfortable with strangers, especially official looking ones though, and these para-military super-groups reminded him too much of his own painful history. So...Beorn immediately sought a corner and did his steady best to disappear from anyone's attention for the moment. He did poke at himself though, trying to determine if death had any lasting consequences.

You rematerialize on the station to find it badly damaged. Nick Fury, holding a bandage to his head informs you that station operations are now back under control. The explosion did not fully close the rift, but did shrink it significantly, and it is no longer growing. The armada ships were either destroyed or have retreated, except for one which came through the portal and attacked the first thing it found: the SHIELD satellite.
The ship has left the satellite for dead and headed off towards Earth.

Beorn is surprised to find that although he still doesn't quite feel 100% yet, his powers seem to be fully back. He even lets out a surprised "Eeep!" (which draws everyone else's attention) when he tries to "shimmer up" and the Aegis completely encompasses him instantly.

"Someone's gotta go after 'em before they get to Earth", Nick says, ignoring Beorn's exclamation, "Take the BRAVE* ship. At least it’ll give you a fighting chance. There's no time to spare!"

The BRAVE can be separated into four separate modules if need be, each accommodating up to two passengers. The satellite has one of these ships docked here. You can use your Agility or the ship's Control rank to pilot, whichever is better.

* Blossoming Re-entry and Assault Vehicular Engine
Control EX, Speed UN, Body RM, Protection RM, Four RM laser cannons.
If seperated, each module has one laser cannon and the above stats at -1 CS.

"WHAT?!?!?! You beemed us up here when you knew the ship was going to Earth...where we were...in FF headquarters...with all of their equipement. What is WRONG with you? Did you just need to see me pretty face or something? Where is this ship we can't waste anymore time here."

Energystar gets everyone to the ship and they are off.
