Well, as everybody knows, we have a shoutbox. What a lot of people know is that there's never anybody on the shoutbox. What ever few people know is that the reason nobody's ever on the shoutbox is because we use an IRC channel instead. It's a irc.otherworlders.org/#mythweavers. If you don't have an IRC client, we have help here.

Some of you might as why this is better than the shoutbox. I mean, we already have a decent chatroom of our own? So, in the past ten minutes, I whipped up this handy table to prove why IRC is better.

IRCShoutbox
Message AlertsNo Message Alerts
Infinite ArchivesOne Day Archives
Requires Nick RegistrationAutomatic Nick Registration
Nick SwitchingNo Nick Switching
AFK AlertsNo AFK Alerts
Private ChatNo Private Chat
DicerollerNo Diceroller
CostlessConsumes MW Resources

So, of these nine things (and there's more small things), the shoutbox has
Nick Registration
one advantage over IRC, while IRC channel has eight. Rigo plans on adding more features to the shoutbox, but for now the channel is much more useful.

EDIT: To register, type in /nick yournick then /ns register yourpassword youremail. Then nobody can use your nickname without it being clear that they're faking it.

So, join in! We'd love to see your there!

First!
Also, sticky it!

I'm there! nick is registered!

Which makes it tremendously exciting

At the peak of shoutbox usage, there were quite a lot of people who opened the shoutbox in an alternate tab and did other things. Like sleep or go to work.

Guilty as charged ><

By the way, ChatZilla is an absolute snap to install & configure. Once you've connected the first time, be sure to click "IRC" and choose "Connect to this network at startup" to automatically connect to the MW channel when you open ChatZilla.
