I'd like to get my foot in the figurative door and express interest. It will be a little while before I have time to sit down and start serious work on a concept though. If you're looking to get started quickly I'll understand completely.

Well, we are not running a game in any of the places Dresden visited (and sort of bombed but that's neither here nor there) but you must have some access to the Dresden Files RPG or at least the Fate system.

Background: Where did you come from?

Jim Danver's came from a family living the American Dream, he had parents who loved him, a girlfriend he loved, and wanted to marry. Then War. He signed up for the good fight immediately, and became a soldier. He bled, he fought, he saved lives, he cried, and screamed. It was a time of terrible beauty. Beautiful because everything around him could be the very last thing he saw, and so he saw them in new ways. Terrible because of the things he had to do to survive.

What nation, region, culture are you from? What were your family circumstances like? What’s your relationship with your family? How were you educated? What were your friends like? Did you get into trouble much? If you’re supernatural, how early did you learn this? Were there problems?

Rising Conflict: What shaped you?

Suicide is a sin, and goes against everything he learned in Church. So when he got his Dear John letter in the war, he figured he had only one option. Fight the enemy, never stop, never waver. He knew that, if he continued with this plan, eventually he would catch a bullet. It was just as well, he was heartbroken anyway. So he did just that, he fought the enemy with a fervor unseen by his comrades. They feared him, and respected him. He was obviously crazed, but the things that he did, the death that he brought. Never stopping for rest, never slowing, never caring for his person, he was a terror on the field of battle. Slowly, without even noticing it, he changed. He went from being a man, made of vulnerable flesh and blood, into a monster that could take any hit and keep moving. It was at this point that his company regarded him with outright fear. They say Jim loose limbs, but when they rounded the next corner, there Jim was. Smoking a cigarette, with the lost limb, sleeve torn off at the elbow. He was given a honorable discharge, since nobody wanted to fight alongside the undying.

I'm interested, but I have a question about my character concept. Is it possible to re-skin Demonic Co-Pilot as possession by something that isn't a demon, but does have a conflict of interest with my character?

Changing the flavor usually does not affect the mechanics much, as long as there is something like it flavor-wise in the world. For Demonic Co-Pilot, you could be influenced by demons, ghosts, nonphysical nevernever spirits (i.e. Bob or a spirit of hunger for a hexenwolf), angels (esp Fallen ones), or even Outsiders.
