Kak Two-Voices, the Synad Shaper (HBS)
Three years? Really? Has it been so long since we came? The walls have been such a splendid challenge, if ultimately BURN THEM! BURN THEM ALL TO ASH! futile. 'Tis a pity, that all our work is transient, but I suppose that adds it's own beauty. It may yet survive - new and unknown opportunities are coming. We and our works may last. To go out in such a way is quite wonderful.
Focus Kak! We have work to do transitory though it may be. We're reinforcing the southern wall, building a hoarding. We have the wood and stone already, but if we don't watch the workers they'll bungle it all somehow. Why we are responsible for others BUILD UPON THEIR BONES = THEY FAIL OUR VISION, AND MUST BECOME NAUGHT BUT PIECES! I'll never know. I should have just remained at my home, focused upon more simple works. This city will become a crowning monument, a stronghold combining beauty and power that will inspire builders for generations. Still, three years. Three years away from my master's quarry, three years since my last bit of fine marble. And to think the master was upset - we were throwing away HIS WORTHLESS SACK OF FLESH SHOULD HAVE BEEN FLAYED FROM HIS BONES, HIS BONES GROUND TO POWDER, THE WIND OF HIS BREATH GIVEN TO HELL, HIS MEMORY LOCKED WITHIN THE SCREAMS OF LESSER BEINGS! our talent and great opportunity.
Much has been accomplished, and the towers of the past will combine with new legends, and we are part of them. Greater deeds that masonry await. Three years, and we have built this wall almost from nothing. The city is a mighty keep ready to break the hordes even as we shatter beneath their weight. At least here the people aren't desperate enough to quail at our talents like the last city. Funny, with all the wizards and mages about they still act shocked to see bits of stone chip away without hands or OUR WORK IS DEATH! OUR GLORY IS POWER! THOSE BENEATHE WILL ALWAYS SHAKE TO SEE OUR STRENGTH! tool, to see supports waver from nothing. They are desperate enough that they no longer see the horrors and nightmares of our childhood in my eyes. We suppose impending doom is good enough for that. There is no doom but that we doom ourselves. DOOM! DOOM! DOOM!
The tall, dusty man shook his head, braids throwing gray clouds into the air. He spoke a reply to the burly workman, "We're sorry, we were lost in thought. Um, yes, leave the wagons here. Take the men up and ready the facings - five feet apart. Once the sockets are set we'll begin bringing the beams up. Come, we have much to do!"

Kak generally dresses well if simply. He prefers long coats and thick clothing that somewhat hides his spare frame. As a result he often looks like some sort of looming carrion bird - a tall and thin neck holding up a head poked forward, all of which rests upon wide shoulders and fluttery clothing. He keeps his head and face shaved, but generally has a thin layer of stubble over both his face and head.
His eyes are a pale blue, so pale that in dim light his eyes seem to be a solid white. His hands show evidence of a life as a craftsman - steady and pocked with light scars. In contrast though his narrow mouth is always moving as he mutters to himself. Those mutters are part of the source of his nickname, for the natural expressions of his face are often that of a different man as he speaks to himself - sometimes even in clear and audible conversation with others it can momentarily seem as though another has taken over his tongue.
Despite the appearances of incipient madness, he is afforded the respect of a true craftsman. His labors on the works of the beleaguered city, as well as his capable participation with militia sorties, have proven his steady loyalty to the civilized people of the region. Even more remarkable - to him, at least - is that those who know the truth about his heritage and nature often regard him with more trust than less.
By nature he is inclined towards a quiet existence, but the driving lashes of his multiple nature have caused him to seek out glory and greatness. He seeks for action and power to quiet one voice, and he seeks for a legacy and victory to reach the expectations of the other.

Currently, my posts per day are at 7.66. I am not currently participating in any games, summer this year was difficult and I pulled out of those I was in rather than asking to be NPCed or causing people to wait on my sporadic participation. Instead, I'm going to direct you to a game I've been running, which has been kept alive despite my abscence in May and June. Approaching the Inevitable began as a solo game, and I've been very happy with my players. I suggest you begin either with Chapter I or with Interlude I if you prefer to see straight role-play, however if you want a feel for role-play during actual combat and a more mechanic focus, the last half of Chapter II might be preferable.
Also, as I'm sure you've noticed, the short history is also something of a sample post, rather than being a dry narrative. If you'd like a more substantial history, let me know.

Kak Two-Voices Male CN Synad Psion, Level 5, Init +4, HP 29/29, Speed 30' AC 14, Touch 13, Flat-footed 12, Fort +3, Ref +3, Will +8, Base Attack Bonus 2 /40 Dagger +2 (1d4, 19-20/x2) Heavy Crossbow (20 bolts) +4 (1d10, 19-20/x2)
