Premise

In Morcron, it is a Theocracy with one major religion and a few minor ones, with the rest being considered heretical (outlawed).

Falor

Falor is the primary religion of Morcron. He is the father of Woldon and Yeris.

  • Deity: Falor
  • Alignment: Lawful Good (LG)
  • Domains: Good, Law, Protection, Strength
  • Favored Weapon: Mace
  • Symbol: Sunburst with a benevolent face on it.

Falor's religion is very organized. Under the Immortal-Emperor (who is the divine representative of Falor on the planet), there are two Patriarchs, who oversee the northern and southern branches of the churth. Each Patriarch has two cardinals; one of whom is in charge of the administration of their branch and the other who handles the liturgical concerns of their branch. Under the cardinals are the Primates. While the primates are technically under the cardinals, they are in many ways contemporaries of them as each cardinal handles one of the Primates (branches of the church).

Under the Cardinals, there are Arch-Bishops, Bishops, Prelates, Priests (there is one priest per Church/Temple), Underpriests (2 per Priest), and Nieuweling's (4 per priest).

There are eight Primates (branches) of Falor's religion:

  • Hospitaler - Responsible for charity and helping the poor. Runs literacy programs throughout the Empire.
  • Inquisition - Responsible for rooting out heretics, arcane spell-casters, and druids. One of the most hated Primates.
  • Military Orders - Responsible for all militant orders in the Empire. All orders report to this Primate.
  • Monastic - In charge of the few monk orders there are.
  • Oracles - Responsible for the divine divinations of the Empire. This is one of the smallest Primates.
  • Seminary - Responsible for the training of lay people who wish to become clerics.
  • Technology - Responsible for reviewing all inventions to make sure they use one of the three tenets (Muscle, Water, Wind).
  • Unknown - There is an eighth primate, but it's function is unknown. Many believe this Primate is somehow directly answerable to the Immortal-Emperor.

Woldon

Woldon is the son of Falor and is the more rebellious of the two offspring because he seeks knowledge.

  • Deity: Woldon
  • Alignment: True Neutral (N)
  • Domains: Artifice (found in SRD), Knowledge, Travel
  • Favored Weapon: Quarterstaff
  • Symbol: An open road

Yeris

Yeris is a son of Falor. He is driven by his desire for "stuff", but maintains his father's outlook on matters of Law. Like his brother, he desires Knowledge, but prefers to get it through guile, not travel.

  • Deity: Yeris
  • Alignment: Lawful Neutral (LN)
  • Domains: Knowledge, Magic, Trickery
  • Favored Weapon: Dagger
  • Symbol: Merchant Scales

Heretical Religions

The Heretical religions are religions which have been outlawed because of the sheer "evilness" of them or because they represent a threat to the supremacy of Falor.

Demon Worshipers

  • Deity: "Demon-Worshippers"
  • Alignment: Chaotic Evil (CE)
  • Domains: Chaos, Evil, Destruction, War
  • Favored Weapon: Great Axe
  • Symbol: Grinning or leering Demonic Head
  • Description: Most demon worshiper's are more fans of destruction and chaos than any particular demonic cause. There are very rare individuals who worship a specific and powerful demon lord, but they are maybe one out of a hundred 'true' demon worshipers.

Devil Worshipers

  • Deity: "Devil-Worshippers"
  • Alignment: Lawful Evil (LE)
  • Domains: Evil, Law, Magic, Trickery
  • Favored Weapon: Rapier
  • Symbol: Parchment with a dancing Imp on it.
  • Description: Devil worshipers are rarer than demon worshipers because of the stricter rules the devils enforce on their clergy. Accordingly, they are usually more intelligent and crafty.

Elemental Worshipers

  • Deity: "Elemental"
  • Alignment: N, NG, NE
  • Domains: Air, Earth, Fire, Water
  • Favored Weapon: Trident
  • Symbol: Quartered Sphere
  • Description: Favored among the druidic circles, worship of the Elementals is generally viewed by the laity as an evil, but a lesser evil. Elemental worshipers are still illegal, but generally less hunted.
