Zuk Bastin

Zuk Bastin is a 26 year-old Kuati human.

Early Life & Education

Zuk spent his first 16 years of his life living on Kuat with is mother, a design engineer for KDY. His mother, realizing his potential and knowing he would not be given adequate education as a male on Kuat sent him to Byblos Academy of Medicine where he began training as a doctor.

Shortly after his second year, when he began seeing patients, he realized he had difficulty maintaining a good bedside manner to those who refused to help themselves. Shortly thereafter, he quit medical school.

Career

Not wanting to return to Kuat and face the oppression he felt from the matriarchal society there, he instead elected to stay on Byblos. He was able to secure a job as an engineer for BlasTech Industries. He was assigned to the ill-fated GL-81 Specialty Grenade Launcher. After nearly a year and a half of work, the program was canceled due to budget cutbacks and a concession from BlasTech to allow Merr-Sonn to maintain their dominance of the grenade launcher market. Zuk spent some time with two other projects, an updated, slightly more compact version of the DT-57, the DT-60, and BlasTech's attempted foray into the flamethrower market, the DF-1. Each project lasted less than a year before they were canceled.

Sensing apprehension about having him on the team for any project from his co-workers, as they began to think of him as a curse, dooming projects to fail, Zuk decided it was best to take his talents elsewhere. Zuk moved to Rodia, and began working as the Assistant Pyrotechnician for the Iskaayumian Ballet, a job which he held for 3 years, eventually moving up to Assistant Technical Director.

Yearning to return to a less foreign culture, Zuk was made aware of the need for a new Technical Director for Kian Kadir on his new tour. He applied and was given the job by Mac Devlin.

Personal Life

Shortly after starting work for Kian, he became romantically involved with Kian's bodyguard, Sheeai Rees.
