Kanto Forever
Ash Ketchum, age 35, Kanto League Champion, is adventuring in parts unknown. Professor Oak passed away two years ago, but not before founding the Oak Institute, a research and pokemimetics organization that has come to rival Sylph Co. Sylph Co is close to unlocking the secrets of consciousness, and has recruited many psychic human and pokemon in its ongoing research. Many other psychics of the region have gone into hiding to escape unwanted attention and persecution. The power vaccuum left by the collapse of Team Rocket has gone unfilled, and Kanto is just beginning to pull itself out of an economic collapse predicated by their absence.
But the world moves on, and the trains from Jhoto continue to roll in, bringing trade, cultural diffusion and invasive species of pokemon. Science has refined elemental stones to unbelievably powerful and unstable forms. Pokemon once extinct are sold as exotic pets to wealthy urbanites. Mutations among existing species of pokemon have been noted. It feels like the whole nation is WAITING for something, some master change that the past century has been building towards.
