Detailed Description

I’ll be using some to tools and try to do a lot of random stuff for emergent play. I’ll be using several different systems to go through and learn and different game scenarios. And I’ll try to keep each post down to 15 minutes or so. Bitesized.

  1. What's new in this game
  2. Vril Energy- Endemic energy pervasive throughout the world
  3. Astirs Dee - Close range mech Newton- Long range Mech Maxwell’s Demon - Liberator carrier and transport Crowley- Diaspora standard issue mecha
  4. Locations The Miracle Earth - where this is set. I’ll add a map or something later Vinland - A capital of Miracle Earth. Under contention with the Liberators and the Diaspora.
  5. TOoc We’ll just do a fade here and keep it simple. I don’t know a ton about these characters yet. Commander John Faith looks pensive and snips away a bonsai tree in his office/quarters. As we pull out, we see dozens of these little trees. I guess this will be an encourage roll for him. Roll at advantage for the first move during the sortie.
  6. Tooc Scene: Vinland Capital Market Intent: Get to know you with Theme: Move: Somewhere Nearby Jumo walked with Sasha down the streets of Vinland. It's was an old city of stone and mortar. He loved it. There has been a lot of waiting since he got to this world... The Miracle Earth as they called it. Sasha wore her usual gear, a light suit of armor covered with a cloak. Neither fit in as far as the fashions were concerned. Sasha: So what do you think? Vinland is one of the old cities and one of the capitals that we need to keep in place. Jumo: It's a great place. And the food was amazing. Thanks for taking me around. This is definitely different than home. Sasha: Yeah... it's... special. Defending this place and the rest of the world is one reason we need your help. Jumo: Look... if you guys help me get home. I'll fight with you until the time comes. Sasha: John will be happy to hear that. Me too. Juno: From your reactions so far... I'm surprised you want me out there with you. Sasha: I'm just used to going it alone... that's all. (A look in her eyes says it's more than that, but does Jumo see it?) OOCThis is the somewhere nearby move. I'm going to advance Jumo's GRAVITY clock with Sasha
  7. OocSasha, John and Jumo each start with 2 Downtimes. I'll skip the Authorities Downtimes for right now since I have no idea what's going on with that. Ladies First with Sasha: Private Quarters Sasha and the Captain sit around in his quarters. They are a lot larger and more pluch than hers. More comfortable. Even though the two are a generation apart in age, mentally and emotionally they seem to be on a similar page. The air is tense as he sits in the chair at his desk and she is perched next to him on the desk. Their heads and faces are feet away in height, almost as a counterpoint to the heights of thier individual ranks. Sasha: John... We don't know this guy Jumo from a hole in the ground. He could easily be a Dippy plant. John: Are you saying that we shouldn't have saved him... Sasha... that's not what we do. Not what YOU and I do... Sasha (looking a little ashamed): Not that we shouldn't have saved him. But he probably shouldn't be piloting one of the only Astirs we have next. That's what doesn't make sense to me. He's untrained. Untested. Unvetted. A liability. John: I can see that. But you know that talent is hard to come by. Almost impossible raw. And he has it. And he has the will to pilot and to fight. Sasha: He says he has the will... John: Sasha... There's no more going back and forth on this. It's an order. He'll go out on the next Sortie. Get him ready. Sasha stands (perturbed and frustrated by the called rank. She snaps a formal salute): Yes sir. (then turns and leaves) John just watches her go. Face fallen. Gave John Gravity
  8. Arcanist Name: Sacha Silvermaul When you launch your Astir you say: “Dee, going out for sortie” Gear 1 Astir III Touch Spell (melee/bane) 2 Arcanist Gear -> Clothes that match your look • What does formal magical study look like in your world? Traditionally it looks like years of academic study. But for this sort of training, it’s a month of combat magic. • Is this something open and public, like an academy, or private, like training passed down through a family lineage? Was it tied to military service? Open and Public. You just have to be able to make it through. • Do you have a familiar or bonded item you use to focus your magic? - No • What does performing your rituals entail? - Depends on the ritual. Time and Reagents though • Where did you get your Astir? Is it stolen from a military force? A family heirloom? Does it belong to the Cause? - Astir was passed down through the family • Do all Arcanists study where you did, or are there multiple schools of thought? - Multiple schools • Are people like you openly referred to as Arcanists? If not, is there another name for what you Are? - Yes Gravity Trigger XXX - [][][][][][] XXX - [][][][][][] XXX - [][][][][][] Dee - 4 Power Core: Alchemical: Arcane Part: Alchemical Suite Weapon - Fists III; Sword and Shield III Astir Move: TBD
  9. Place to put characters? I put all of the characters on a list. I rolled a d6 to see how many characters I’d play and then rolled that many d20s to see which characters.
  10. The Cause • Does the Cause have aims other than opposing the Authority? Not as known by the group • How much of a secret is the Cause? Not a secret • Where do the Cause’s resources come from? Various groups and nations opposed to the Diaspora • What do people within the Cause disagree over? Is violence the best and only way? Is the technology the Diaspora uses for control bad? Or is just the dictator bad? Should it be destroyed or used? • What does the average citizen think of the Cause? Do they support/oppose it? Average citizen supports the cause, but feel like the conflict is out of thier hands so aren’t invested. • How does the Cause look? What symbols and colours do they use? What materials? Rag tag. TOns of character. Colors are Green and Gold • Does the Cause have a standard or mass-produced Astir? What is it like? Yes. 15 feet tall. Kind of samurai looking. • What is the Cause called? Does the Authority call it something different, and if so–what? No unified name. Just the cause. The Diaspora calls them rebels. Our main faction will call themselves Liberators
  11. For the sake of speed, ease, inspiration and easy touchstones I'm going to use Escaflowne as a big inspiration for this go around of Armour Astir. I'm going to bounce around and buzz through. Starting with making the Authority... What do I want them to do or be. In Escaflowne, it's a mad scientist with an entire Empire behind him trying to reliably predict the future but because of one of the main characters, he can't. This is on page 15. • What do the people of the Authority value? - Power and the “gratitude” of the Authority • What do the people of the Authority hate or disparage? “Weakness” and not being able to do what needs to be done • What is hypocritical about the Authority? - Ostensibly the goal of the Authority is to keep mankind safe by controlling it. However, it uses people as fodder and has no care for them. • What is the Authority’s primary goal? Why haven’t they achieved it? The primary goal is control over the actions of all people. It hasn’t succeeded due to the technology not being powerful enough or the workmen not having talent enough. And the rebels. • What does the average person think of the Authority? Do they support/oppose it? The average person is fine with it on a high level. They don’t want to feel controlled, but they don’t mind being controlled. • How does the Authority look? What symbols and colours do they use? What materials? Their colors are black and crimson and have a general feel of aeseptic cleaness. There’s no character to their things. • Does the Authority have a standard or mass-produced Astir? What is it like? It does. It’s 20 feet tall and shaped roughly like a standard suit of mideval armor. It’s called a Knight. • What is the Authority called? Does the Cause call it something different, and if so–what? The Authority calls itself THe United Diaspora of Man. or the Diaspora. The Cause also call them the Diaspora or Dippy’s. Functionally, the Authority is comprised of three Divisions (see Authority in the Director’s section for info on how these work). As a group, you should come up with what these Divisions are and what they do. Every Division should have: • A name, official or otherwise • A type that determines their area of influence
  12. I’ll go through the book and build everything out. I’ll try to do a lot of stuff randomly and come out with some emergent play.
