About This Game

I’m interested in creating an X-Men-like superhero game using Destined, a super-powered supplement for the Mythras system. I’m aiming for a vibe similar to the early X-Men comics or the Mutant X TV show—lower power levels, high-stakes adventures, and super-powered battles. You’ll create a character with superpowers (probably just one or two to start) and build a team to do some good in the world. I want the game to be somewhat sandbox-y, so you’ll let me know what you’re interested in, and we’ll pursue that. I’m thinking of teenagers or young adults with powers who will fight super crime and defend the world.

Detailed Description

Who Are You Destined to Be?

Imagine being granted fantastic powers. Who would you become? A savior of the world or its conqueror? A champion of peace and justice, or a harbinger of fear and obedience? Would you strive to be the world’s greatest hero or its most infamous villain?

Throughout history, there have always been extraordinary individuals—those who are stronger, smarter, faster, and more driven. In recent decades, the number of people born above the baseline has increased. What was once attributed to better nutrition and reduced stress is now recognized as something more profound.

The Evolutions have become more extreme. People with obvious superpowers and physiological changes are emerging, and the pace of scientific advancement is accelerating. Some view this as the next step in human evolution, while others see it as a disease to be eradicated. Normal people live in fear of the potential of these “Evolved” individuals, wary of their burgeoning powers and the mad science that has erupted worldwide.

A leader has emerged, advocating for peace between the Evolved and the Normals. This woman has assembled a team of Evolved individuals to train and educate them, using her vast resources to protect Normals from malevolent Evolved and Mad Scientists who seek to dominate humanity.

And you are part of this team…

Hey everyone, thanks for reading this far! This will be my first time running a game on this site, and I’m excited to get started. If you have any questions or suggestions for improving this ad, please let me know. I’m still new to the system, so I’ll be learning along with you.

About the GM

Hello! I’m new to the site and relatively new to PbP GMing. I love superheroes, space opera, and all that nerdy stuff. I enjoy learning new systems, and my current obsession is the Mythras system and its spin-offs.

I’ll post 2 or 3 times a week.

Applications

Please submit a paragraph or three aboutyour character concept and their powers. Nothing too time-consuming yet. I'll go through any applications and concepts and make decisions on a team of players. If I like the first four or so, I may move forward with them to capture the momentum

Flight speed = CON meters. Max altitude CON times 500 meters. Boost: Supersonic. Outside of combat, can fly 10 times flying speed in km/hr. Can move 50 times this speed for 2 pp/hr, or 100 times it for 3pp/hr, but afterwards must make a Hard Endurance check or suffer 1d3 Levels of Fatigue. Blast - POW, Resist (evade) - Can fire her force bubbles. Uses Combat Style for attack rolls, range is CON at short range, CON times 3 at effective range, and CON times 10 at long range. Damage is 2d8, Force is L, with her POW. Limit: Requires intricate hand gestures. Boost: Salvo - can launch a barrage of smaller projectiles at a single or multiple enemies. 2 pp/additional projectile, damage two steps lower (1d10). If single target, hit multiple hit locations. If multiple targets, attack roll is one Difficulty Grade more difficult, can divide the shots however she sees fit, all use the same attack roll. Hero Limits: Distinctive Appearance (Little Person), because she is, technically. She has a problem with her pituitary gland, causing proportionate dwarfism, and all the problems that causes. Step 11: Determine Allotments and Gear As a Street level hero, she has 30% to split between personal and organizational allotments. I don't know that we are putting anything into an organization? Should we roll for Social Status? Will come back to this later. Work In Progress.
  3. Reserved for eventual character sheet. Backstory
  4. No mention so far about powers or building them. Do I need to reserve points from skills for them?
  5. Power Level: Street. Hero Concept: Psychic Vampire (hates being called that) tele-coercive. Gone down the wrong path and seeking redemption. Origin: Mutation. Alice manifested her mutant talents when she was a tween-ager. Misdiagnosed as a fast acting leukemia, her parents were told she had died. Transferred to scientific laboratory for study. She escaped after a few years and was indoctrinated by a mutants civil rights/semi-terrorist organization. Disaffected with their rhetoric, she abandoned them to join the school. Characteristics: (80 Points) STR - 08 CON - 10 SIZ - 08 DEX - 10 INT - 14 POW - 16 CHA - 14 5. Attributes: I do not know how some of these are determined. Action Points: Dex + Int = 10+14=24 =2AP Damage Modifier: Str + Siz = 8+8=16 = -1d2 XP Modifier: ? Cha = 14. Do not know what that comes to. Healing Rate: 2 Height and Weight: 158cm 50kg HP: ? Legs: 4 Abdomen: 5 Chest: 9 Arms: 3 Head: 4 Initiative Bonus: 12 Luck Points: 6 Power Points: 14 Movement Rate: 6m 6. Standard Skills: Athletics: Str+Dex=8+10=18 Brawn: Str+Siz=8+8=16 Combat Style: Str+Dex=8+10=18 Conceal: Dex+Pow=10+16=26 Deceit: Int+Cha=14+14=28 Drive: Dex+Pow=10+16=26 Endurance: Con x2=10x2=20 Evade: Dex x2=10x2=20 First Aid: Int+Dex=14+10=24 Influence: Cha x2=14x2=28 Insight: Int+Pow=14+16=30 Native Language: Int+Cha=14+14=28 Perception: Int+Pow=14+16=30 Research: Int+Pow=14+16=30 Stealth: Int+Dex=14+10=24 Streetwise: Pow+Cha=16+14=30 Unarmed: Str+Dex=8+10=18 Willpower: Pow x2=16x2=32 7. Background: Probably Urban. Certainly not Rural. Do not know what the third choice is. Is there a place where I can see what these are? 8. Career: Hacktivist. Spy. Read your mind, steal your passwords, make you write bad checks. 9. Bonus Skill Points: Politics.
  6. Alice's player enjoys learning new systems. Never heard of this one. If this character is too far out there, then I might try to come up with something else. I tend to play "bricks" in super games and often end up with some form of Jessica Jones clone lately. I am hoping for Alice to be less physical. For Powers, if the system supports it, looking to be Professor X style telepathy/mind control but no telekinesis. And for a sort of Rogue vibe in that her powers can harm others if she isn't careful. Using her 'vampire touch' on others makes her more powerful but not physically so. And on a day to day -just being around her- flaw, Alice slowly leeches the life of anyone who stays close. Long term association makes others tired, grouchy, negative. Plants left in her room for a week will die.
  7. Alice manifested her mutant abilities around the age of twelve. She grew sickly, as if stricken with swift acting leukemia. When the family dog jumped up on her bed, Alice leeched the life out of her pet as they slept that night. She woke up feeling physically better but her dog was dead. When her symptoms began to return a few months later, more tests were conducted and her mutant abilities were first catalogued. Alice was moved to a medical facility and her parents were told she died. Alice was told they were ashamed of her mutant abilities and did not want to see her. Alice remained isolated and under study for several years. Growing tired of the needles and tests, and also rebellious as a teen who did not enjoy being patted on the bottom by scientists which she could sense their stray thoughts and emotions; Alice lashed out. Another accidental death. Unaware of her growing telepathic and telecoercive abilities, the staff did not place adequate limits on Alice and she escaped. Her last act of revenge was to prompt the staff to destroy all records of herself and her abilities. On her own, Alice fell in with 'mutant activists' who tried to use her for their own purposes. Again, the failure to understand how to keep secrets from a telepath prompted Alice to abandon those who would use her for agendas she did not particularly care for. Alice has joined up with yet another mutant group, hoping that they will not try to use her. Hoping that she can control her powers.

  9. Just wanted to say that I'm really excited about the characters everybody's making! I really love the diversity of backgrounds and personalities we chose and I think it'll make for some fun dynamics!
  10. Does the 15 skill point ceiling apply per step of character creation or to character creation as a whole? I found the wording ambiguous. I think the book's character creation example didn't exceed the ceiling as a whole, but that could've been a player choice rather than an imposed limit. I made my character assuming it applies to creation as a whole and am wondering if I revisit my choices if my interpretation was incorrect.

  12. That's good to hear, but I'm drawing a blank on what her skills should be. I imagine her as a more cerebral, ranged support character, but I have no idea what kinds of topics she'd be into.
  13. hi everyone, i'm apolo and it's also my first time here, and first time with both mythras and destined. i've done pbp before. big time x-fan excited to get our team going! should get started on character creation today.
  14. I’ll try to get mine up too. Might not be finished until the weekend.
  15. Ok. Sounds good. I’m reviewing the starts on that the other players put in. Reach out if you have any troubles.
  16. Check in. Busy-ish week and I am trying to learn the system. Will probably get a decent rough draft up tomorrow.
  17. No problem. I’ll poke through this and get back to you with the next steps or info you need. Thanks.
  18. This is great. I’ll go through in more detail, just wanted you to know I saw it.
  19. Cool. I'm KingGoblin, the goblin king. I've been playing for a long time, but actually thought Mythras was something else from back in the 80s. Looks like RuneQuest, and I guess it is? I was thinking Mythus, Dangerous Journeys. I liked that game, but nobody else I played with ever wanted to try it, or heard of it. Anyway, so this game looks interesting, too, and I like superhero games, so although this is a different take on a d100 game that I haven't tried before, I am looking forward to learning it. Plus, I always like a game that has a Size score. That just seems neat. I have been on MythWeavers for a long time, and if you don't have much experience with pbp, my main advice would be to understand the pace tends to be very slow, but don't get overwhelmed, and don't kick yourself if it feels like it is about ten times slower than you were expecting. Look at it as a long-term thing, rather than stressing about the short-term slowness.
  20. Frankly, I think that's as far as I can get on my own. The free booklet I downloaded is understandably skimpy on details, and a lot of information seems entirely different (assuming it's not just a case of using different words).
