Detailed Description

You and your friends gave up the adventuring life long ago, the best decision you ever made. You were on a quest for... something. It's hard to remember back that far. You aren't sure how long ago. But then you came across this cute little town in the middle of nowhere.

The town only had one inn - the Kozy Kobweb. Luckily, they had vacancies. You had one of the best meals of your life, a fantastic time chatting with the locals, and enjoyed sing-a-longs over mugs of expertly crafted ale. You slept well and woke up refreshed and happy. You even told the owner - Ms. Alice - about how happy you were there and how you were sad that you had to leave and continue your quest.

But Ms. Alice told you there was no need. Several of her staff had just retired, and she offered you all jobs on the spot. You instantly accepted, the quest forgotten.

Now you spend your days working and socializing with your friends. You still have plenty of time to relax. All of your old weapons and equipment are packed away in the cellar - who needs them? Rather than the constant travel and danger of your old lives, you have endless peaceful days, one fading into the next.

And you couldn't be happier. Everything is just perfect.

The Web of All-Torment is a one-shot module from the DCC Horror line, and it is not for the faint of heart. This is one disturbing adventure, ladies and gentlemen, and character death is far from the worst thing that can happen. It is dark, twisted, and gory, and the PCs will be thrust right into it. None will escape unchanged.

All PCs will be third level, which is the equivalent power level of fifth or sixth-level PCs in a D&D system. Not that it will save you.

  1. What's new in this game
  2. On hold works for me right now, so let's review the situation later!
  3. There's not really a set order of events in the module, so it depends on what you guys do. As a thumbnail guess, I'd say you guys are about 2/3 of the way through, which is several weeks (10? 12?) of playtime, even if we all dive in and keep a fast pace.
  4. No worries, do what you need to do. Is There a lot left to the module, without giving stuff away?
  5. Hi guys, my schedule has remained pretty busy over the last couple of weeks, and I don't think it's going to ease up. I'm able to maintain one game but not two, so this one is going to remain on hold for the time being. I will reach out when I'm able to pick it back up, which I intend to do. Hopefully, everyone will be ready to jump back in. If not, or if the "on hold" time gets to be unreasonable, I'll close the game out. But hopefully, we'll be able to pick the game back up. It's been fun and you guys have been great players.
  6. Thanks for the heads up! And no worries, I'm in a bit of a slump myself.
  7. Hi all, it's the 15th (16th, actually, something was happening with the site last night, and I couldn't log in.) I'm still not quite ready to go. I just got my other game up and running, but I need a bit more time before restarting this one.
  8. So sorry to hear that! It’s tough balancing work, life, and game. And game takes the lowest priority, as it should. You take care of yourself, and I know I’ll still be around when you’re able to continue.
  9. Take the time you need to get things back in balance! We'll see where everyone's at in July.
  10. Hi all. Unfortunately, I have some bad news for the game. I'm sure everyone has noticed that my posting rate has dropped dramatically, and that's due to the dreaded interference from IRL issues. Specifically, work has been pretty intense lately, and by the time I finish up, I've been mentally exhausted. It's left me pretty burned out. I'm going to try putting both of my games on hold until July 15th. I wouldn't make it so long, but a shorter break would run right into a big summer event I'm doing with my family. This game has actually gone on a lot longer than I originally planned. I thought it would last six months, tops. You guys are a great group and I appreciate you sticking with the game even when it bogged down a couple of times early on. I hope everyone has a good few weeks. I might be around the forums from time to time when I get a chance.
  11. For the first time in what has most certainly felt like an eternity, Flickwit almost feels... hope? It's hard to tell. He cannot remember when he last felt a truly positive emotion. Seeing the horrid beast on fire, and Malice and their goons whimper and cower before Novia's deific powers. Note to self - he thinks, do not anger Novia... or whatever deity they serve! Too exhausted for subterfuge and skullduggery, he readies his crossbow and takes a shot at Malice. He curses as the bolt bounces off the cavern wall, and he reloads his crossbow.
  12. Yeah i think the sword is two handed and i do better with a shield, despite forgetting to roll my shield bash last attack...
  13. Whoops, my bad. Yes, it's okay to mark the sword as +2.
  14. Shaun Seeing their plan actually working, Shaun turns on his heels and crouches to grab his short bow and arrows from the shallow grave he hid in. Equipped for ranged fighting he then moves next to Novia and prepares to attack the burning monster. OOC: I assume the arrows are in a quiver he either never took off or slips back on; if that's not the case Shaun grabs, say, 4 and sticks 3 of them in the sand pointy end down when he gets to Novia. 1 would be nocked, ready to go next round. Shaun will be standing in the square to the east of Novia (15' move).
  15. Welcome back! Shaun was carrying the Show Me sword (Truthsinger) earlier, and he hid in. Later Doørfin was . I believe the is a slip-up (it happens!), but if it's OK I can still mark the sword as a +2 weapon in Shaun's inventory? No one's just wielding it at the moment.
  16. The demons will be groveling towards their Mistress Novia for the next 90 minutes (540 combat rounds). Focus your attacks on Malice.
  17. Malice resists the power of Novia's god, but her demonic allies are not so strong-willed. The prone demon rolls to his belly and makes a strange mewling sound. The burning demon falls to his knees and begs for Novia to put him out. Doorfin strikes the demon at his feet, but the creature's hide is as tough as boiled leather and absorbs most of the damage. Still, the sword is no normal blade, and it cuts deeper than Doorfin expected. ** OOC - The Show Me sword is magical and has a +2 bonus to hit and damage. Make a note! ** Monster HPs: Malice: 61hp (mind controlled), Demon 1: 15hp (prone) Demon 2: 14hp (on fire)
  18. HP 24/24 | AC 16 | R+1 F+2 W+1 | Luck 11/13 (+1) | Init. +0 | Speed 15' | CombatDeed Die +d5 (affects both to hit and damage) Crit: 1d14 on Table III Sword and Board: Free shield bash at d14 (d3 dmg) "Ya think tha's enough t' stop me? Ah forged this m'self! Try again, harder!" Doørfin shouted as the demon stood and glanced blows off the Dwarf's armor. Hoping Novia's words would sink into the demon, the Dwarf would try to end the thing, or at least knock it off its feet again.
  19. I was just hoping to mess up the demon that was on fire. If I screw her up for one round, that's just a bonus.
  20. Novia's got some nasty mind-control effects. Malice has a special ability that allows her a save every round vs. that sort of thing. I didn't add that just to mess with you either (which isn't something I do) it's written into the module. Novia doesn't know that of course, but she can tell that Malice is hard to control.
  21. Let's get some bad will saves. This fight might be over...
