Guisewhy Posted May 22 Clone Share Posted May 22 (edited) Question: What kind of enemies should we be expecting? Like for a Ranger's favored enemies options. Answer: Common: Humanoid (catfolk) Humanoid (goblinoid) Humanoid (gnoll) Humanoid (human) Humanoid (orc) Construct (different flavors: steamtech, astral, magical golem) Uncommon: After that it gets hard to predict: you're sure to run into these as you cross purposes with different factions, but these are mission-specific not constant opponents. There are Arcane (magical beasts, outsiders), Psychic (aberrations, astral constructs, varied) and Occult (undead, varied) opponents out there. Guisewhy Posted May 23 Author Clone Share Posted May 23 Is anything banned as a spoiler of an intrigue campaign? Ears of the City was a devised by the Harrower Queen -- the ultimate diviner. It opens an occult extradimensional dream portal whereby she conveys what she wishes to convey about what is happening in her city. You get truth, just her selection of it. At the same time, she gains knowledge about you and what you are interested in. Mechanically, it gives her faction +1 Awareness: https://www.myth-weavers.com/index.php?/forum/4381-the-bigger-picture/ - and likely will trigger devastating counter attacks in the near future. So, it's a great spell, go ahead and use it. Name xDiceName xDiceResult xDiceString xDiceRolls
Guisewhy Posted May 24 Author Clone Share Posted May 24 (edited) Q: If your class gives you a bonus feat that is removed by the Elephant in the Room rules, do we get a replacement? Answer: Step 1: If your class gives you a feat that EITR says is “gone” but offers a replacement (like Improved Trip which is replaced by Deft Maneuvers or something that the feat was merged into), and you haven’t taken the replacement, then you must take the replacement. If so, you are done. Step 2: If the feat is Point Blank Shot, you take it, even if EITR says it is no longer needed as a prerequisite. It still gives a usable bonus. If so, you are done. Step 3: If your class gives you options such as a list of bonus feats that include things EITR gave you for free, then you cannot pick the EITR feat, pick some other on the list if you can. (Pay attention to whether your class explicitly says you do not need to meet the feat's prerequisite: whether that liberty applies or not is still important.) If so, you are done. Step 4: If your class offers no option but always includes an EITR feat, then pick a feat that feat is a prerequisite for, and that you otherwise meet prerequisites for. If so, you are done. Step 5: If you are stuck with just one choice, but you don't meet its prerequisites, you may take it as a latent feat. You just cannot reuse it until some higher level when you might meet all of its prerequisites. Step 6: Oops, out of luck. You have a redundant feature, just a consequence of your build. Done. Guisewhy Posted May 29 Author Clone Share Posted May 29 Q: What is the expected posting rate: A: About twice a week. I do strongly recommend that all posts take action, and try to move the plot forward.. If a player jumps ahead of that pace, I may ask them to wait up for others, if they're not on a solo thread. If a player is slower than that, in combat situations I might stack their action into the next round, or NPC them. Unexplained prolonged absences will be dropped. I prefer not to stall the game waiting for consensus, a couple people indicate the party is moving in a certain direction, I will usually just move things along that way. On the other hand, if something is particularly momentous or against someones obvious or stated intent, then I will block to give them a chance to weigh in. Guisewhy Posted June 24 Author Clone Share Posted June 24 Q: How does Mobility interact with deeds that give bonus attacks? Mobility (Combat) You can easily move through a dangerous melee. Prerequisites: Dex 13, Dodge. Benefit: You get a +4 dodge bonus to Armor Class against attacks of opportunity caused when you move out of or within a threatened area. A condition that makes you lose your Dexterity bonus to Armor Class (if any) also makes you lose dodge bonuses. An Overwatch's initial attack is a readied action an not an attack of opportunity. However, a variety of mechanics among the deeds provide extra attacks at the cost of AoOs, and if they are triggered by movement then Mobility applies to the defender. In particular: Close Combat Specialist, and Improved Overwatch's follow-on shots. The deeds to which Mobility does not apply include: In the Zone (triggered by simply lacking cover not moving), Return Fire and Retaliatory Fire (triggered by attacks not movement). Guisewhy Posted July 23 Author Clone Share Posted July 23 Q: Does this count as a "high psionics campaign"? A: I am not using material from the various books that appear under the "High Psionics" title. However, Triapsyism is deemed a powerful threat on par with Arcane and Occult faiths and world views. I am provided a limited number of options that bolster psionic characters (and the enemies who are psionic who you will encounter, eventually.) So I am using this: https://libraryofmetzofitz.fandom.com/wiki/High_Psionics, with just the following text struck out: "In high psionics games, for this special case, each indicated level of the prestige class advances both the aegis’s damage reduction and customization points or the soulknife’s enhanced mind blade, as above, and his existing manifester level by one level." Guisewhy Posted August 9 Author Clone Share Posted August 9 Quote 4. Book-keeping for these deeds and the "cooldown" mechanic. I get the reason for this but with a handful of deeds that have cooldown this is going to become a literal logistical nightmare as I track them all! I suggest an out of character block that keeps this well structured. When you used a deed that has a cooldown, add it to a list: Cooled down on Round 3: Run and Gun Cooled down on Round 4: Rupture, Dirty Trick Shot Cooled down on Round 11: Deadly quickdraw-damage So by specifying the round at which the cooldown ends, you don't have to decrement any counters. You keep the list in sorted order, and just delete the current round from the list when you reach it.
