Vecna, Vecna, Vecna

Recommended Posts

Because Vecna is all the rage these days, I am opening up a table for a one-shot game of Vecna: Nest of the Eldritch Eye. This adventure is designed for 4-6 characters of average party level 3, but any Tier-1 character can play. Because it is pretty deadly for level one characters, I might have to run a quick adventure beforehand if the majority of characters are level one.

I am looking for 5 players for this game, but players who are not in any games I'm DM-ing have priority. To submit, just include a link to your character sheet (either MW or dndbeyond) and adventure log for me to review. I'll then respond in your post to confirm that you're accepted. Once I have 5 players, I'll close recruitment. But fret not if you don't get in this time. I'll run this adventure again in a few months for the next batch of interested players.

The adventure hook for this will be you're all a group of mercenaries. How you got together or how you know each other we'll figure out in game.

Ok, I got freshly rebuilt level 3 character for you. She holds the record for the worst log length / playtime ratio, but she should do fine. I might still tweak the personality a little. Tiefling Warlock [Hexblade] 3.

I'm not on desktop so harder for me to check, but Tome of Foes is no longer a valid source book. Any tiefling features from that can't be used. IIRC only PHB and SCAG tiefling options are allowed.

Switched to SCAG, Devils Tongue.

Oh, I discovered an interesting hack for the APL 3 challenge. In the latest adventure adaptation guidance, you can create a level 3• Characters start with an additional 250 gp to spend on additional nonmagical gear or kept as coin.
• At 3rd level, each character also gains one uncommon magic item (same as level 5 list)
for the Planescape campaign (to play Turn of Fortune's Wheel). Planescape campaign characters are eligible to play Nest of the Eldritch Eye. After completing NotEE, you can continue on to play ToFW or abandon that (forever) and join in Forgotten Realms campaign adventures.

Nice find! I can definitely put that to use.

As strange as those story implications are, I suppose it's no weirder than ToFW making you forget your past deeds when porting an existing character to it. So in my case I just assumed the backstory 'forgets' Planescape entirely. It seems turnabout is indeed fair play.

Interested in trying out some NotEE:

• Character Sheet Link

• Adventure Log Link

• Profile: DM quick summary, top of notes section.

Damn, reading about the current state of Neverwinter I feel like his would have been an excellent follow on adventure for Sanguinus. Nevermind, he is busy elsewhere.

How soon would a level 1 character be able to catch up to level 3 (between inbuilt levelling and use of downtime) - or is the whole adventure set across one "session" at level 3?
