The Adventurer's Waypoint

We will use this thread for any out-of-character conversations that need to take place. If you are discussing strategy, tactics, who is going to open the giant chest that is labeled as dangerous...let's talk about it all here!

I haven't used mythweavers in ages, but just when I decide to check in again a game like this starts advertising. I'm excited to give it a shot!

Krossingkhory/DM/you there/etc., please let me know if there's anything I can improve formatting-wise (or any other mythweaver interactions) once I put up my character thread. Looking forward to working with everyone!

Not entirely sure what you mean by a 30-minute role-playing sample. Is that (best guess) how long we should take writing it? The span of time the sample should cover? How long it should take to read it (if only for your sake, I hope not...)? Something else?

About how long you should take writing it. I know a lot of people like to write something, then edit, then re-read, then edit, then re-write, and so on. You don't need to go through all of that for this exercise. Just write whatever comes to mind in 30 minutes, as if you were playing the character but didn't have the ability to edit or update after you hit submit.

Does that make sense?

Very excited to put in my application! I'm new to mythweavers, but not to pbp, but havent flexed that muscle since 4e.

Quick question - for rolling for stats, I assume you'd like that on the Dice Rolling thread, and not "trust me bro, I rolled all 18s", right?

You are correct! I don't even trust myself!

However, if you prefer, you may roll them in your character thread!

Do you have a preference on backgrounds to avoid? Like those that grant feats or spells?

Well, all of the backgrounds from Strixhaven are already barred. If there are any other that grant spells or feats, I would prefer people to not take them. But I don't know everything, so if there are any others out there, please avoid them.

Well, there are those from other sources like Guildmaster's Guide to Ravnica which provides spells. Really all the newer publications post Tasha's offer some type of feat, ability usable x times, or choice of spells in some manner.

So reason for the clarification.

Good day Krossingkhory!

Are the background from Dungeons of Drakkenheim allowed? It's not on your banned ist of materials, but the backgrounds in this setting seem to have a little bit of a power boost compared to normal.

Examples include - giving out (prof) inspiration dice per short rest, giving allies small free and bonus healing during short rest, crafting 1 free lvl 1 scroll per day. Might not be exact, but you get the idea!

EDIT: Just saw the posts immediately preceding mine and going to assume based off that they are not allowed unless you say otherwise, as I would say they are the equivalent to a feat.

Yep, this falls under the category of "I don't know everything", and so I appreciate you asking! They are in fact not allowed, and I will add Dungeons of Drakkenheim to the barred list of books!
