Help with an ad

Hey. I wanted to post this ad but was thinking it could use a little something. I was told I could maybe get another set of eyes here to help tszuj it up. This is my first ad on the site so I’d like to get the feel right. What do you think?

 

Who are you destined to be? If you were given fantastic powers, who would you be? Would you try to save the world - or conquer it? Would you promote peace and justice, or foster fear and demand blind obedience? Would you strive to be the world’s greatest hero or its most infamous villain?

There have always been special people on Earth.  People who are a little stronger, smarter, faster, more driven…  Recent decades have seen an increase of people born above the baseline.  What changes were once touted and chalked up to better nutrition and less overall stress and more freedom than just to survive day to day, has become apparent that there’s more going on.

 

The Evolutions have become more extreme. People with obvious super powers and even strange changes to their physiology are rising up and the science of the world is accelerating at a maddening pace. Some say it’s the next step of human evolution, others that it’s a disease to be wiped out. Normal people live in fear of the potential of these “Evolved” people… afraid of their burgeoning powers and abilities and afraid of the mad science that has erupted all over the world.

 

A leader has arisen in the world, one that wants the Evolved and the Normals to live side by side in peace, as they have for millenia. This woman has gathered a group or team of Evolved to herself in order to train and educate them, and use her vast resources to defend the Normals from evil Evolved and Mad Scientists who would put themselves at the peak of Humanity and before the Normals.  

 

And you are on this team…

Hey everybody, thanks for at least reading this far.  This will be my first time running a game on the site, but I’m excited to do it. If there’s any questions or anything I can do better in this ad, let me know. I’m still new to the system, so I’ll be learning as I go as well.

 

As you can tell from the blurb above, I’m interested in making an X-Men like superhero game. I want to use Destined, which is a super powered supplement book for the Mythras system.  I’m looking to emulate kind-of the earlier X-Men books or Mutant X tv show; lower power level, high stakes adventures, super powered fights.

 

You’ll create a character with super powers (probably just one or two to start) and build a team to do some good in the world.  I want it to be kind of sandbox-y, so you’ll let me know what you’re interested in and we’ll try to pursue that. I’m thinking teenagers or young adults with powers who will fight super crime and basically defend the world.

 

If you don’t have the book or don’t want to get it, I’m happy to walk through everything with everyone.

 

 

A little about Destined: 

Destined is a game of super-powered role playing. You take on the roles of individuals with amazing abilities and try to find your place in a world inspired by comic books and other superheroic media. Using an extensive array of superpowers you create whatever hero you can imagine, and take to the mean streets to mete out justice using your trusty 1d100 and a well stocked utility belt.

The system works by having you make a character as a regular person, then powers get thrown on top of that.  So your character's aptitudes and characteristics before Evolving affect their powers. The powers in the book are pretty standard and effect based, so if you’ve read through the M&M book or GURPS, it’s a fairly standard array of abilities. I’ll give you an option to roll on a mutation table in addition to the standard power list, and if you choose to do that, then you get an extra ability but you may turn out not looking “human” anymore (think Beast or Nightcrawler).

Hello.  I’m new to the site and kind of new to PbP GMing.  I love super heroes, space opera and (probably like most others here) all that nerdy stuff.  I really like learning new systems and my current obsession is the Mythras system and it’s spin offs.

 

I’ll post 2 or 3 times a week.

I would suggest adding links to where you can legally obtain Mythras and Destined, since there may be people who are interested but don't already have the books. I haven't looked at them at all myself, so I don't know the status of their copyrights and whether the rules can be freely shared. If they can't, you probably want to add some sort of statement about whether you can teach the system well enough that someone could play without owning the book.
