Module We Should Start With

Grudge

I found most Adventure League modules. For those who don't know they are bite sized pieces of adventure that later get published as the book. Like Elemental Evils for example. I also have about 18 different ones (not Adventure League), one full adventure and several independent one shots (That are honestly of better quality)

thanks for the invite!

disclosure: I know nothing about 5e, except a bit about the advantage/disadvantage mechanic. are there online rulebooks? or do I have to scrounge up a pdf somewhere?

about the actual question: knowing nothing about any of the modules, if you have something that you think is better quality why not pick one of those?

Errrr we can't do that here.   Grudge#4060 My discord, we'll sort that out. In general it's much easier than 3.5 or PF (hence initial outcry from hardcore) but similar enough for someone familiar with basically any d20 system he could get it.

@FrancisJohnAlso there are two SRD's

 Of course, like with all SRD's there comes the question of what to allow and what not since stuff is not really separated by books. While with books I could just say use just PHB and Volo's guide to monsters and don't think about it anymore. But since this is more planned like a learning experience for the site and you for the system I don't think it matters. If you don't wanna hassle with books you could start with just these. If you find some bonkers 3rd party thing just run that by me the first party stuff is fine. Unearthed Arcana case by case basis

Also, I haven't browsed this site for a while but I think they use MW sheets and just link them here.

Anything is possible. If you really want to go beginner route, I'll go though the modules and see. Although I think 1st module of the first season is most appropriate because it was released I thing just about full PHB was released so it was literally made for beginners. Other option is interesting from kind of history perspective, because I never saw it run. It's a prequel to Curse of Strahd. Since Strahd begins 3rd-4th lvl, this one is really quick one shot (I think it might be even faster than the first one I mentioned) only difference is it goes for super quick leveling since it's the assumption you'd play Strahd next so it levels characters from level 1-3 in like 30 pages. So if you want to experience leveling too that one would be one to go. If you'd want absolute bare bones basics than the first one would be the pick. Those two are shortest I can remember from the top of my head. But there is bunch more lvl 1 modules. I'm trying to figure out who'd be decent 3rd player. Most modules assume 3-4 players minimum so I wouldn't need to do any behind the scenes adjustments. Maybe rauhric? I'm still waiting for Root to accept the invite. He needs to do breathing exercises first before moving onto this unholy platform 😂

I don't really know him so you contact him and explain details so he know what he's getting himself into. 😅 We're basically learning Baldr with a really short published 5e modules. Well, in truth modules are the parts of the great whole, so if you like it we can just continue with second one. There are 14 one shots in first season. PbP with relatively regular posting we could knock the first one out in a week. Longest one I played was 3 weeks. Of course this is Baldr so some surprises might be behind the corner. So say Week and a half with a learning curve. Full adventure (14 modules takes characters from lvl 1 to lvl 7 I think)

Ok, I sent him an invite, but he need to log on Baldr to see it, something Root still haven't done, boy he really doesn't like this site 😂 He was on MW today all he had to do is press the Baldr button and yes for invite.
