Feats
Virga May • Ancestry 1 • Changeling, Lineage
Born of a storm hag, you have one crystal-blue or rain-gray eye. You share your mother’s power over wind and storm. You can cast electric arc as an occult innate cantrip. As normal, a cantrip is heightened to a spell level equal to half your level rounded up.
Haughty Obstinacy • Ancestry 1 • Human
Your powerful ego makes it harder for others to order you around. If you roll a success on a saving throw against a mental effect that attempts to directly control your actions, you critically succeed instead. If a creature rolls a failure on a check to Coerce you using Intimidation, it gets a critical failure instead (so it can’t try to Coerce you again for 1 week).

Versatile Performance • Class 1 • Bard
You can rely on the grandeur of your performances rather than ordinary social skills. You can use Performance instead of Diplomacy to Make an Impression and instead of Intimidation to Demoralize. You can also use an acting Performance instead of Deception to Impersonate. You can use your proficiency rank in Performance to meet the requirements of skill feats that require a particular rank in Deception, Diplomacy, or Intimidation.

Appearance
Valeria is tall and willowy, with long limbs, long fingers, and long, graceful movements. (Please ignore that she also has slightly over-long fingernails, she does her best to keep those trimmed and is rather self-conscious about them, not to mention that they get in the way of her playing.) Her claim to be the daughter of Zinon Krysova isn't exactly far-fetched, as she has her father's sharp features and unusual amber eyes. Well, one of them. The other eye is stormy gray, the typical changeling legacy of her hag mother - and unlike most changelings, her hair is nearly white, for much the same reason. When she gets angry, or deeply into her playing, her eyes take on an electric glow and her hair begins to stand on end like she's picked up a static charge.

She does her best to keep abreast of fashion trends, but she left most of her noble finery back in Grayhaven rather than haul it out on this expedition, even if her hair's in the lower-effort version of a current high-fashion style she adopted (because it's not like she ever had servants to help manage it). Valeria likes dark colors that set off her pale coloration, especially if she can still move easily in them. She sold most of what jewelry she had for extra money before she came as well, not that she had that much of it to start with. She's almost never without her violin - a rather cheaply-made one as violins go, but carefully maintained to coax the best sound out of it she can.

Personality
Valeria's personality is pretty, well, stormy - natural inclinations aside, a lifetime of rejection has left her with a big helping of simmering resentment that quickly boil over into anger. She tries to avoid venting it on unworthy targets, but her control of her temper isn't always the best. Calling her a liar or dismissing her as inferior are good ways to set her off; in a somewhat more admirable vein, so is dumping on social inferiors in front of her in general. Despite her own ambition, Valeria really hates people who are willing to climb over others for their own advancement.

She tries to channel her anger into more constructive ways. Playing helps calm her down - she's learned several regional styles of fiddling as well as more high-class violin music, and likes improvising new compositions. She's recently learned to actually heal people with her magic, and being able to channel that through her music feels a bit like a validation that she's on a good path. She picked up a bit of skill with woodworking as another attempt to ingratiate herself with her noble family and their love of crafting, and while she doesn't often get the chance to practice that, she finds it rather soothing as well.

Valeria loves collecting bits of knowledge from everywhere, especially about people, stories, and traditions. She likes to think that even if understanding people wasn't the key to endearing herself to House Garess, it's probably still a good way to anchor her to the non-hag bits of her identity. Valeria knows just enough about how changelings work to be privately terrified of the notion of hearing the Call and being compelled to abandon her identity to become a hag - she pictures it as something like the same form of trampling people to get to the top she hates, except with more literal monstrousness.

History
Scandals are not exactly uncommon among the push and pull of noble families in Brevoy, so it wasn't that out-of-the-ordinary for a foundling girl to turn up who looked a lot like Zinon Krysova, a member of a cadet branch of House Garess. It also didn't mean that anyone believed the story Zinon told of being caught in a storm while out hunting and taking shelter with a strange woman who vanished in the morning, at least not until the girl started sparking at the fingertips. Hags aren't as common in Brevoy as they are farther west in Ustalav, but sometimes hags travel, too, and the power of mountain storms sometimes attracts them.

The problems started arising when the girl who called herself Valeria Krysova started pushing for the acknowledgement of her noble father and his family. House Garess has a bit of a reputation for being stodgy - all that time associating with dwarves - and has been known to disown scions who have problematic affairs, and one that leaves evidence in the form of a changeling is pretty damning. House Garess never did acknowledge her publicly, but, possibly out of guilt on her father's end, she did get a job as a servant in the manor. She spent years trying to win their approval - putting on courtly graces, learning ladylike arts like the violin, working with her hands like so many of House Garess's scions, studying politics as a fly on the wall in the halls of power. None of it seemed to make a dent in the family's stubbornness. Granted, Valeria's quick temper probably didn't help. She never did learn to suffer fools gladly, nor to see someone trample on an 'inferior' in pursuit of advancement without calling it out - a line she refused to cross herself, seeing it as slipping toward the hag nature everyone seemed to expect of a changeling.

Finally, she decided she'd had enough of struggling for the acknowledgment of nobles who didn't seem to care about her. After one last shouting match with her father, right in the front hall - halfway on purpose, as if she couldn't leave without making a dramatic exit - Valeria stormed out of the manor and signed on for an expedition to reclaim territory out in the Stolen Lands. If she was never going to have a noble's name, she might as well make one of her own.
