Help hunt down a wizard before he becomes a lich. What could go wrong?

THE SUN BLAZES NO LESS FOR HAVING SET, BUT RISES ELSEWHERE BEYOND OUR SIGHT.
IN THIS WAY THE SOUL PERSISTS IN DEATH, TO WANDER IN THE ENDLESS NIGHT.

8th level D&D 3.5E game seeking 1-2 new players to hunt down a would-be lich. Applications go here.

It's been my good fortune to have a long-running (and increasingly-inaccurately named ) game on this site for just over 8 years! Player spots naturally open up over the years, and we have two of them to fill right now as the group prepares for their next adventure. They will be hunting down a prospective lich, a wizard name Hargreave, with whom they have both professional and personal scores to settle. They just forced him out of a tomb he was intending to use as a lair while he worked the lengthy ritual needed to achieve lichdom, setting his progress back by months. Unfortunately, it will take time to track him down again. There are also hints that he is not alone in whatever his plan is, but fortunately, he has made other enemies, too...

The departing characters are a Favored Soul and a Dragon Shaman, so the group has lost a lot of healing power. The remaining players have suggested they prioritize "someone who could deal with the undead better" followed by "a trapfinder of some sort" and possibly someone who can help as a "party face." That sounds like they want divine casters, social- and trap-finding Rogues, or others who can fill similar roles. They already have a Bard, but he is more focused on buffing than facing.

I feel like I should mention that the campaign as a whole hasn't been undead-heavy so far, but their recent adventure was. So expect to fight undead, but I wouldn't recommend a character pigeonholed into only doing that.

Applications go here where I have a thread for them. 8th level, 32 point buy, and 30,000 GP instead of the normal wealth-by-level of 27,000 GP.

For the story so far, see the game summary below. If you're bored and have a lot of time on your hands, the current game thread starts here here and the party's burly brawl with Hargreave starts here.

This is a homebrew setting that I would describe as Greyhawk-like in tone, including having the default D&D/Greyhawk pantheon for those thinking of Clerics.
