A Jade Regent MASHUP!

Long story shortFirst and foremost: To the players of the last run, I apologize for my disappearance. I did very much enjoy our time together, and you are more than welcome to reapply to this game once again.

I've been away for several months (again) due to career commitments. My time here is still limited, however in my time away I've been running a live tabletop group now for the two years. My newest campaign with that group is a mirror of the previous run of this offering, which was intended as a testing ground for potential ideas. Due to the nature of PbP and my fluctuating availability, that didn't quite take flight as quickly as I had hoped. This run will take from the experiences learned from the live group and the last experiment, and will take some new life as I have promised one of the potential applicants some modicum of constancy.

The skinnyWhile this campaign will primarily feature the Jade Regent adventure path, we will not begin with the first module right away. Instead, in order to build some PC to NPC familiarity and relationships, I've mashed some other AP and non-AP modules into the mix, which can make up for some years of the PCs being residents and/or local heroes of Sandpoint, before the Jade Regent adventure begins properly. There will potentially be other things along the way, as well as after the AP finishes.

Read: Some of the content (including a small portion of the Jade Regent AP itself) has been heavily modified. Don't expect me to follow the books word for word.

What I'm looking for4-5 players who are looking to have fun, who will to join this campaign with the intent of seeing it through.

Desired Posting Frequency: Approximately twice a week, with slightly more frequent posting during combat. This may change during times when family life and career demands me to be away.

Qualities:
  • Mature player who loves to write and create depth in plot and character
  • Commitment to the game
  • Interest in collaborative fiction and creative writing
  • HAS A SENSE OF HUMOR!

Seriously though, you just need to have fun for the sake of having fun, enjoy writing, and not be a douche. That's all.

The character generation rules is linked forthwith. Post a new thread in the Auditions folder within the game, should you be interested.

Game Description:

Sandpoint. A humble town with a humble name. Yet what if some of its heroes are destined for some not-so-humble things? What if history isn't quite what it has been written out to be? What if...

The culmination of events spanning centuries has finally reached its pinnacle. The fate of a continent hangs in a delicate balance. The future of a nation is in your hands.

Apparently in "campaign mode" you can. Our chargen rules aren't that far away from PFS actually, I try to model my chargen pretty close.

I don't believe the rules changed very much since we left off, so we should more or les be able to brush off Bianca and go. (Think the only thing that changed is I approved background skills)

Jade Regent is "sanctioned'"
ie see: The-Brinewall-Legacy is sanctioned for use in Pathfinder Society Organized Play."

What I was talking about before is "campaign mode" ie "In Campaign mode, GMs can use their own rules for character creation and running the presented content (the entire book or series). They are not even required to use the Pathfinder RPG rules," from the PFS Guild Guide v. 10 p. 12

I don't mean it to be a distraction. I'm just a avid PFS player and big PF fan. I've been looking for a Jade Regent game for a while.

I made a generic human unchained rogue with profession sailor for my submission. I'm able to post 4 or 5 times a week barring vacation or illness.

No distraction at all. I appreciate the clarification.

Now if I may, I pointed out that there is non-sanctioned content in the mix of all of this, particularly council of thieves #1 and second darkness #3. Any idea how to deal with that with regard to crediting the rest of the campaign?

Council of thieves was recently sanctioned.

But if it's not sanctioned it's just "ignored" and its "just part" of your "home" campaign.

Cool! Ok so I guess as long as your character is PFS legal, I have no problem signing it off and reporting the credit for you. Thank you!

That is TBD. Working on getting a friend to warm up to MW, so we'll wait until that is done before I review applications for selection.

Sorry...again the character in YOUR game since it's "campaign mode" doesn't have to be PFS legal. It just has to be legal for YOUR game. The game can be 5th edition D&D, Song of Fire and Ice RPG by Green Ronin, or GURPS...the campaign just has to be roughly based on the encounters in the "sanctioned" adventure Path. You should use Legend of the Five Rings RPG and run the rough encounters in Jade Regent and the game is OK for campaign mode.

I've run an adventure path using 5e and set it in the old TSR Greyhawk setting and it was OK for campaign mode.

Weird! Even though we're using PF as a system and obviously bending the PFS ruleset?

Yep..campaign mode is designed in part to support PFS yet give GMs maximum flexibility to run the campaign THEY want.
