DnD 5e Homebrew Accepting Applications

Phantom's Source - Forum
Dungeons & Dragons 5e

Sumbit character applications here!!

------

Overview

This will be a sandbox style and text based dungeons and dragons and play by post game.

Looking for up 2-3 players, level 3 characters for DnD 5e homebrew setting.

The goal will be for players to post at least once daily to keep the story going.Length of posts is inconsequential so long as the game advances, but a few sentences per post at minimum is recommended.Gameplay will be narrative based and told cooperatively by the players and the GM. Focus will predominantly be with the story arc, world exploration and character development rather than tactical combat.

Typical combat will have the GM state initiative order having rolled it ahead of time and possibly state actions of enemies upfront as well. PCs respond with their actions. GM will reply to resolve combat. Dice rolls should be attached to your post accompanying actions or will be substituted with rolls by the GM. This will take place in rounds till combat has ended.

Theater of the mind allows for detailed, engaging descriptions of combat scenes and players should take creative liberty with this. If it's within the realm of possibility for your character, do it! Use your imagination to your advantage in written posts.

It's hightide and the Wekito is traveling comfortably adrift the Blackwater river. Best guess would put the day at somewhere in the early afternoon, but storm clouds have been following the flat bottomed barge without remorse all day and the sky is blanketed so thickly now it could really be closer to night fall. The last voyage the Wetiko took was the same route, but then she had four able crewmen and wind to carry her along. Truly, at least three men are needed for her to be properly crewed, but so far, she was doing alright with just the two of them.

Sitting nestled alone in the bow pulpit, knees held tightly to his chest and wearing a flat crowned, brimmed hat was a Drow man. His skin was more of a greenish hue than most other dark elves, which he took pride in, but his complexion was too ruddy for him to be considered attractive. The auburn red hair he had at ear length was enviable but still unkempt like the rest of him. The elf coughed retchedly and wiped his mouth on his sleeve.

"Hmmmm", he remarked wistfully, getting up to his feet. Knees were still sore. He wasn't sure how long he'd been there reading the book of wisdoms from Alaundo, but looking up from it's pages now he chuckled to himself, glad that the river was still there.

It seemed to the elf that the further down the river the barge went towards the fishing village, Gravesend, the narrower the banks of the watery passage seemed to grow. That town had really seen a bad run of things the last few months. The wheat crop had rotted and didn't sell, hares overtook the town by droves spreading lice to the petty folk, and masseurs were turning up missing from the bawdy house. The rumors said a spectre was at fault for the people's misfortunes and was haunting Gravesend. They said a ghostly barge traveled the waters around there, leaving malevolent accidents in it's wake.

Bah! The Drow and his mate weren't afeared of a phantom. Sure, they talked about the money they might make in Gravesend, but there were other matters to attend to than play the town's bounty board, even when with the city's reward for the missing men being so handsome. Delivery of the Wetiko's payload would satisfy just as well, always does.

The tidal river's shoreline, now dotted with thick river grasses and mangrove trees, wouldn't be recognizeable within the hour. Blackwater river is due to alter the flow of its current without warning. With the tidal changes, the water level in the lower half of the river forms visible waves that run concurrent to the regular flow of the river. With any luck, the Wetiko, the Drow, and his shipmate would pass through Gravesend without trouble just like any other voyage.

So for now, the Wetiko drifts along lacksidasically through the passes of the marsh. And, the thick oozing mud of the riverbed squelches softly as she pushes through it's waters. Smoke billowing from the town of Gravesend is seen on the horizon, won't be long now to the docks.

I am definetly interested.
But, is their any more info on the homebrew setting? or what our adventure will be consisting of?

I'm guessing we start in Gravesend, or on the boat making its way there?

You mention Drow, which makes me think Forgotten Realms? High magic?

It's mostly Forgotten Realms and uses the Salt Marsh supplement with novel towns and locales. Magic, h
igh fantasy and a start in Gravesend. I ended up using a discord chat server to host the game, however. We haven't started yet if you wanna check it out. Still recruiting and players have posted.
