The Kingdom of Talingarde is the most noble, virtuous, peaceful nation in the known world.

And this is the story of how you burned this insipid paradise to the ground.

But, it's only fair... they burned you first.

Those self-righteous prigs judged and condemned you for your crimes. They branded you as villains and outcasts. They shipped you to the worst prison in the kingdom. In just three short days, you will be executed. In three days, these do-gooders pray they will be rid of you forever.

But, they've given you three days. The fools don't realize that's more than you need to break out. And then, it will be their turn to face the fire... it will be their turn to die.

IntroductionHello all. I will be running a dark and gritty game of Way of the Wicked, an evil-themed adventure path from Fire Mountain Games designed to take players from Level 1-20, and I am looking for a group of stone-cold villains to give it their worst in an attempt to overthrow a nation of self-righteous, moralistic do-gooders that think they're better than you.

I am hoping for 4-6 creative and enthusiastic players with strong writing skills who can post 3-4 times per week. Check out the Applications folder for more details!

DetailsCharacter Creation: Head over here for character creation guidelines to get started.

Applications: Post your characters here.

Deadline: Depends on interest, but as long as we have a decent set of applications then I'm leaning toward starting sooner than later. For now, I'm thinking 11:59 PM MST November 23rd, with invitations going out November 25th and my introductory post on the 26th.

Always appreciated Way of the Wicked! Would love to throw my hat into the ring for this.

I'm in.

Saaaay... I'm partial to Fighter characters and, since nobody is the villain in their own story, I am wondering if it is ok for a PC to be in denial about his own wickedness.

There are two crimes that I would find befitting an evil Fighter (well, 3 maybe): Murder and Duelling to the Death (and maybe desertion).

For a Lawful character, being denied the chance to settle manners of honour by shedding blood (including your own!) might be enough to despise the law that would make weaklings out of men. For the country and it's people to be strong, there must be incentive to be strong! It is really for The Greater Good!

The other idea I have is of a guy who really does have some strong feelings about justice. Just... Wisdom as a dump stat means he has little impulse control and, well, maybe he should just have reported that corrupt tax-man to the proper authorities instead of taking matters (and a maul) in his own hands and marmelading the guy's skull.

Then of course is the matter of desertion. When a position becomes untenable, is it not a soldier's duty to withdraw to at least preserve his fighting power for the fatherland? And whose fault is it again, when your own officers neglect to tell you that your position is key to holding back the enemy attack and that reinforcements are on the way? Yeah, that's what I thought.

Either way, I'm thinking of a Fighter who is certain that he knows better how to run the army/ county/ country/ kingdom and is ready and happy to splatter skulls to get his point across, unintuitively as this may sound.

Would that work?

How evil is evil? I've always shied away from evil games, but I like Lycar's idea. It might be interesting to play someone that society classifies as evil because they do what they believe needs to be done, but don't see themselves as evil, rather see themselves as patriots and hero's hell bent on destroying a corrupt nation of hypocrites to rebuild a just and orderly socialist state.

Or fascist for that matter. Straight, clear rules for everyone. Enforced with an iron hand, for the good of everyone. Death to traitors!

The Magneto Theory.

@Lycar Talingarde is a strongly religious nation that values good and righteousness, so I think it would be difficult to deny your own cruelty and evil if that's how you are outwardly behaving. (You've been raised to know the difference.) Killing someone is generally an evil (as opposed to good) act, and you will be expected to do plenty of killing in this campaign.

@Spaceace for the purposes of this AP, "evil" will likely involve your characters participating in most (but not necessarily all) of the following depraved acts:

* Murder
* Kidnapping
* Extortion
* Arson
* Blasphemy
* Desecration
* Demon/Devil Worship
* Human Sacrifice
* Biological Warfare
* Telemarketing

I can understand where any of these topics, even in a fictitious setting, might easily be off-putting, and anyone who does not feel comfortable with a darker campaign setting will probably want to take a pass on this AP.
