Game Description:

The premise of this game is going to be very similar to the items in Nicholas Eames excellent books Kings of the Wyld and Bloody Rose.

You will form a band of monster hunters and glory seekers, commissioned by the city of Caluth to venture out in to the Wilds and bring back "entertainment" for the masses. Caluth is a border town...on the border of civilization that is. Located far to the North, near the arboreal crown of the world it is the last habitable (for humans and demi-humans) port that far north. It lies in a moon around the Feriz Bay, looking out at the Crown and the Spire, the forest and mountains of the north. The city has grown large, decadent, and rough.

Recently a new Trading Company came in to town, the Black Spire Trading Company, and set up a coliseum in the city. Their purpose, to entertain the masses of people who live in Caluth, and aspire to escape from their every day drudgery. To that end they've put out a call to the Bands, come to Caluth, bring us monsters both fierce and mighty, and we will reward you with riches and fame beyond your wildest dreams.

It sounds good, you're damn right it does. It's just that, well, it's dangerous up here, and the first four bands came back in pieces, not at all, or as undead retribution from something in the Crown. The Black Spire Company is down, they haven't had a full event in the Coliseum yet, and they're rapidly bleeding money and interest. This is it, their last gasp, last chance at their dream...and your first chance at yours.

Character Build:
28-point buy
4th level characters
5,000gp (no individual piece of equipment over 3k)
Races and Classes - I prefer the standard ones, but have the books and will entertain ideas about the non-standard ones
No LR adjusted races

Looking for 4 players most likely, and the willingness to bear with me running a Pathfinder game here. :)

Side Note: I'll be a bit out of touch over this upcoming weekend, but I wanted to get this out there.

If it isn't crucial to be familiar with the setting, I am currently on the prowl for a game. If it is crucial, is there a setting wiki somewhere?

Bigger question for me: Are we saying that these characters are capturing beings, potentially sentient, that are going to be used for gladitorial combat?

I ask because I couldn't come up with a concept for a Good character that would be cool with that.

The Band is going to be going out, and finding monsters for the Coliseum....one of the things that'll have to be discussed, is whether this is something that the Band actually feels like they should be doing, and if so, why. If not, what's the next plan of action?

I'm *perfectly* comfortable with the Band deciding that they're not going to capture beings for gladitorial combat, and deciding that they'd rather burn down the Company trying to get this going. Really, it's up to you.

I saw another mention a low magic theme to the setting, would players be encouraged to stay in line with that?

The campaign will definitely start off lower magic than a standard Pathfinder game, but there is going to be some ramp up down the road.

It's a more than fair point, since that's a topic that both books address from different perspectives!

Just saw this, will throw an application in the ring tomorrow probably. I have a few builds I would really like to use in a game, both magic and martial...

@Pastor - Yep, that's one of the things that I figured would get hashed out, in game. Is this really something that the Band *should* be doing? Or should they be fighting to take down the Black Spire Trading Company, or should they be just trying to make sure that Caluth is safe, and not feed to the Coliseum, or should they do this, and gain fame and fortune for the act?

It's an EXTREMELY fair point, and one that I'm looking forward to seeing how it all plays out.

Is there a specific patheon divine applicants should stick to?

Also, would Warpriest be an acceptable class? I can do what I'd like to with Fighter/cleric, but this presents a better coherence for the character.
