Yuanti encounter more interesting?

Yuanti encounter more interesting?

I am trying to make my next session more interesting I know what my end goal is. The pcs have to make a choice between gaining an important weapon , information , or destroying a deadly foe. I'm currently running Tomb of Annihilation we are in Omu trying to collect all of the puzzle cubes.
I know I want a confrontation between the PCs and a group of Yuanti but I've already done that several times how do I make it more interesting? The Yuanti group will include a named abomination yuanti Sellak that they met earlier. Also I need a motivation for the group of wizards in Omu the red wizards of fey to give the PCs their puzzle cubes and help them infiltrate the yuanti camp. (For this imagine the red wizards of fey are from Forgotton realms but I'm running this in a different world.)
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Do they have to be Yuan-Ti? If this is just Encounter #7 nd the group has been facing a lot of Yuan-Ti recently, maybe switch them out with something else. Jungle orcs with magical woad or ambulatory plants seeking meat.

well they have to infiltrate the yuanti camp to gain the other puzzle cubes so it makes sense to have yuanti but I've had two other encounters with them one in the first session and one more the session before last.

You could throw an ogre or something at them and say it's being paid by the Yuan-Ti. The snakepeople are intelligent foes, there's nothing saying they couldn't find someone else to guard their camp. If you want to keep it snake-themed there's any number of monster snakes or hydras or the like to draw from.

If the yuan-ti have someone with Handle Animal, they can tame animals and magical beasts. How about yuan-ti purebloods flying overhead on spider eaters, using their SLAs before pulling out their masterwork composite longbows to rain down arrows? Halfbloods sending a pack of crocodiles or a few 5-headed hydras at the party? A swarm of vipers and maybe a few giant constrictors with the abomination, allowing it to maximize its Aversion ability? Perhaps the troupe has a pet digester as well?

Do you want more interesting purely in the combat sense or things that aren't combat?

The latter is maybe a little harder - consider having the yuan-ti willing to bargain (maybe they know the PCs are tough so they'll give up the puzzle cube... for a price) or attempt some kind of trickery - ambush, trap, illusions, whatever. Realistically, won't the camp be large enough that the PCs can't fight all of them at once? So maybe it's a stealth mission. If they get caught, perhaps the yuan-ti decide to keep them prisoner and make them fight for entertainment instead of killing them outright? etc.

If you just want to make the combat more interesting, that's quite easy. Simply switch in some different foes. There are all sorts of reptilian foes who might team up with the yuan-ti, or just add a couple of yuan-ti with different class levels or modes of attack. A yuan-ti who specialises in dispelling or grappling or whatever might come as a bit of a surprise, depending on the composition of the party. Perhaps a yuan-ti ninja who repeatedly goes invisible and sneak attacks them from behind?

alright thanks everyone for the suggestions after the campaign is done I may post a summary of what happened.
