I am interested, but I have a few questions. I see many NPCs listed for ship positions. Would a new character take the place of such a position, like Doctor as Cheif Medical Officer or Scientist as Chief Science Officer?

I am thinking of a Tellarite Engineer or Science, a dour and stoic man but insightful with a talent to get things done efficiently, in the best way possible, regardless of "Starfleet regulations" if they get in the way of what works. Starfleet has made him less abrasive than some of his kind, but he still will poke and prod at perceived weaknesses in arguments or plans. Will connect to crewmates willing to argue and debate with him.

Alternatively, a Denobulan Science or Medical Officer. Certainly more affable than the Tellarite, but would share a love of debate and discussion.

I only just downloaded the manual, so it may take a while to get a character going. I'll probably have questions

Hi Erawys, Yes your new character would take over the new position if they wanted to, but they could just be a Doctor on board the Starship that goes on away missions.

Character creation is pretty simple and fun.

Just downloaded the Core Book and The Command Division (the latter sounded like interesting reading) and having a flick through now, thinking maybe some kind of Operations Officer maybe looking at Intelligence if that'd be okay?

Just bought myself a copy of the core rules pdf. Will read up and get an officer into the manifest in the next couple of days. Very hyped!

@CharmingSatyr The adventure will start just after Stardate 48959.1, So the Next Generation, DS9, Voyager era. The mission will be general exploration, and the Nova class ship has extra sensors for the mission. The ship has had 3 missions, One a Federation Science outpost rescue. One an escort mission with Klingons that was then attacked by Orion pirates and the most current mission is a rescue mission, which lead to the discovery of an unknown artifact, which revealed that Romulans were also after the artifact. The next mission will connect these events together.

@coreal looking forward to seeing your character.

Looking everything over, mykesfree, the character I've put together has Command 4, Security 5 and Conn 4, everything else is at 1. Seeing that the Chief of Security role is gone, I'm thinking Flight Controller? He takes the helm rarely (more during high stress scenarios), it's more an excuse to serve as one of the Senior Officer roles in addition to his Intelligence role. Would this work?

@L_X_D yes Chief of Security role is gone. Flight Controller would be good and having an Intelligence role would be good as well due to the Romulan activity lately.
