Final Fantasy War of the Burning Sky

You are adventurers or residents of the city of Gate Pass. It is a modern city that is a major trade hub for 3 of the local countries, a holy site to the dominant religion of the region, and a sanctuary for the apostate church of Glabados.

Rumor has surfaced that a major portion of the Holy Ydoran Empire has sunk into the sea. Ajora Glabados, founder of the church of Glabados, has been executed. Whether this event is divine retribution for the death of Ajora or if the execution of Ajora was performed in retribution to a catastrophic use of dark magick by the Glabados church is uncertain. What is certain however, is that the armies of Holy Ydora are marching north and south, and that the city of Gate Pass is an ideal political, military, and religious target.

On War of the Burning Sky, you will have the chance to fight in a war of mythic proportions, and determine the fate of many nations in its aftermath. Ever-escalating conflicts, powered by mighty magic and fervent faith, threaten your freedom and lives, and even the world itself.

What does the “Final Fantasy” in the game title refer to? Is this straight 5e War of the Burning Sky or some kind of mash up with the computer game?

Very interested in this idea! Love the Ivalice setting, and am rather fond of the original Final Fantasy Tactics.

It's more or less the War of the Burning Sky campaign set during the time of Saint Ajora's death. The story is essentially WotB, with significant changes to Tears of the Burning Sky module. There are also changes to other portions of the game scattered throughout, with some gameplay tweaks to better reflect the world and lore (such as Mist).

As for "Final Fantasy", you can consider it as a D&D setting, similar to Forgotten Realms or Eberron. There's a lot of background lore you could use, but you don't need to know it to play the game or enjoy the story. The setting of Ivalice is simply one of the worlds presented in Final Fantasy series and fits somewhere between FFXII and the FFT timeline.

Final Fantasy Tactics IS my jam! I'm IN
