AND EVERYTHING ELSE

MERITS
1; DAV p. 422

You are a learned scholar, able
to both read and write. The Merit assumes that you can
read and write with fluency in your native tongue, as
well as Latin and any languages you may have gained
through the Multi-Lingual Merit. In some chronicles,
literacy can be assumed. In these cases, Illiteracy becomes
a 1-point Flaw.
Literacy(1)
2; DAV p. 422

Through patience, study,
and/or immersion, you are able to speak another language
or languages with native fluency. This represents
a full command over the language. For each dot of Intelligence
your character possesses, you may know one
other language. You may also use this Merit to reflect
secret codes, cants, jargon, or sign language as well.
Additional languages increase the cost of this Merit by
one point per language.
Multi-Lingual(2)
free; DAV p. 423

You are able to speak a mixed
language made of common tongues that most people you
encounter will understand. You may not be able to hold
philosophical discussions, but you can navigate your way
through conversations in most places and will be able to
communicate sufficiently in dire situations.

Multiple Personality Disorder

Malkav’s children each suffer from an imbalance
of the humors that’ll never truly fade. At character
creation, choose one derangement (see p. 352). This
derangement can never be cured, and a
Malkavian may only use Willpower to
ignore it for a turn at a time. Even powerful
gifts of the blood such as Valeren may
only push it aside for a night. After such an
effort, however, the derangement comes
back in full force. For a week thereafter,
the Malkavian cannot use Willpower to
resist her derangement at all.

Details

Nature & Demeanor
Walter is a Celebrant. His cause is to learn about the history and origin of vampires and their society. And he sees no reason to hide it (yet).

Attributes

Perception
Walter always had an eye for his surroundings.

Abilities

Occult
When philosophy, theology and medicine had lost Walter's interest - he started to gather what occult texts he could get a hold on. When later his curiosity and his sire's library met, there was no holding back. Walter has since then studied every book his sire gave him access to. Well actually, he did read the others too.

Backgrounds

Resources
Walter's father was a rich merchant in London and Walter inherited the business when his father died.

Retainer
Walter also kept the family's chief servant, Jonathan Brody, around.

@Scarecrow71 Walter is not fully finished (two freebies not yet assigned), but ready for serious review when you are.

A couple of open points I'd like to get input for:

I chose the Road of the Beast (path of the Grey Hunter) as the closest match to the "accepting" attitude Walter has towards the beast as "just another personality". If that is off with respect to how you see and might handle the Road, I'd like to know and potentially change it - probably defaulting to Road of Humanity without using any of the paths.

How much detail do you need on Jonathan Brody, the servant retainer?

Should we leave some language spots open? Walter is searching for knowledge about vampire origins - I have no idea what languages would be appropriate and that way you could decide if I should be able to read a specific text. Ok? Otherwise I will probably Google for some Mesopotamian languages, maybe Greek or Arabic.

I get that a male acting as a female would usually require a good score in performance which Walter doesn't have. It's not essential for the character, but also not meant to be exploited (in the end I don't get to choose when and which personality takes over). I guess I am fine with Walter making a fool of himself when Isabelle comes forward, but I'd prefer if he's authentic as a women - just everybody recognizes him (for the lack of performance skill). What do you think?

@Scarecrow71 could you please archive Walter (and unachievable Frère Phillip instead, granted you allow the Via Noctis).

Thanks
Jan
