Recruitment Drive for One Piece!

One Piece - Forum
Mutants and Masterminds 3e
Estimated Members Requested: 12

Wealth, Fame, Power.

The man who acquired everything in this world, the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger. The final words that were said at his execution, sent people to the seas.

"My wealth and treasures? If you want it, I'll let you have it. Look for it, I left it all in that place."

Men now, chasing their dreams, head towards the Grand Line.

The world now enters a Great Age of Pirates!

Tone of the GameOne Piece is a whacky, dramatic, fantasy world of epic portions. Where great pirates are the equivalent of Supers, hence why I will be using the 2nd Edition of Mutant & Masterminds and some of its supplement. A flexible point base RPG system. If you can imagine it, it is possible.

The PlayersI'm looking for heroic characters that are looking for adventure, treasure, and chasing their dreams. Also, team players, I'm not looking for the lone wolf who can do everything, because, well, you can't. That's why you join a crew.

To apply to this game, before anything, have access to the book. It's very important that you acquire the core book by some means. Next, have a concept. What do you look like? Did you eat a devil fruit? What is your skill set? Do you use a weapon? Do you have a bad sense of direction? Important questions that deserve a well thought out answer. You don't need to make a sheet until you are accepted into the game. Finally, tie it all together with the backstory. Where you came from, who raised you, who taught you what, things like that need to be answered. A well thought out and written backstory can make a big difference. No haki user are permitted at this time.

When one is accepted the rules for character creation will be posted in the game thread.

There are two active crews. The Pinstripe Pirates lead by Ryan D. "The Suit" Syrus and The Virtuoso Pirates lead by "Visionary" Ree.

Thanks Requiem, I wrote that when I was very tired and I completely missed that I put down 8 limbs. Since reef squid have ten I will bump it up to 10. As a Master Gunner extra arms are a plus to say the least. Ps like the flower flower character. Your distracting healing powers name makes me want to name my character Jim. You know just so I can hear you character yell " I'm a doctor Jim!" (Thats right I referenced it).

I already said you could.

12 additional.

Only the Captain wears a pinstripe suit, hence the name. The other two are rather scraggly looking actually.

The maximum trade-off is 5 but wouldn't know that until you are accepted.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. I will indeed swap the defensive roll for dodge focus then. Same function, less broken way to go about it.

Also LoreForged, thank you for the compliments, I especially like the name I picked out. Seika can be translated into about a half-dozen different plant words, including flower arrangement, fruit, vegetable, and (amusingly) fame. Camohin is just an obscure saint who commanded a tree to sprout fruit and it supposedly did.

I wanted to represent the doctoring in a way that was more then just medicine ranks, and I figure distracted healing was just great for it, it's slow, makes both me and my target vulnerable, and is inexpensive.

Edit: To make some observations, the applications have a bit of a glut of gunmen and musicians. The cook and doctor spots are currently uncontested yet occupied (unless that other doctor changes concept), there's an open navigator spot still unclaimed, same with shipwright. That covers the essential roles, but the first mate slot has a lot of wiggle room, although I would think someone without a devil fruit would sit best in the slot. That leaves two free slots for whoever, which is good for surplus crew like a musician or whatever.

Here's Katie's sheet:

Virtuoso may work because they don't have a cook. Plus Katie's singing voice kinda fits the Virtuoso theme.

Well I'm not too tied down with being a Master gunner. I just more so wanted to be this specific Fishmen. If We find there are a lot of Gunners I dont mind tweaking the character to better fit another role. I could easily change Masti to fit the navigator role or a first mate role.

As for specific crew I don't mind which I end up with because both seem like good groups. Although I am intrigued by the suit.

That's the beautiful part about the One-piece setting, your powers and skills are relatively independent as to what kind of role you fit in the crew. While Nami's fighting style fits her skillset, the same can not be said of Sanji or Chopper. While Gunners pretty much have to be ranged combatants and Navigators should generally be smart, there really isn't any real restrictions as to what kind of character can fill what role.

Incidentally Door, You did pretty good on your creation, but I notice you didn't put any ranks into profession (sailor). Furthermore, your loads are:

Light: 16K tons
Medium: 32K tons
Heavy: 50Ktons
Max: 100K tons
Push/Drag: 250K tons

So Tossing around Galleons is within your grasp I'd say.You could also pull off crap like throwing around a ball and chain that are bigger then most Galleons, or chucking cannonballs like baseball pitches. That's right, your level of strength approximates the level of strength possessed by VICE ADMIRAL GARP!!! Okay, actually you can pull off more impressive feats then Garp has been seen doing, but it's not like we've seen him serious at all.

Gunner is certainly a popular choice. I will point out though that you have a much better chance of getting in if you apply for a slot that no one else is applying for.

Heh Good point Requiem_Jeer.

I'll pull some points from SS and put them into Profession Sailor and perhaps some saves.

I pulled 3 levels from Super Strength and put 2 poitns (8 Ranks) into Sailor and 4 points into base Fort Save.

Good for you Door, everyone in the crew should have some ranks in profession (sailor), it's just good sense!

Incidentally, I've finished all three of my starting minion options, the Rage Island Fighting Cactus, the Green Island Strangler vine, and the Tire Island Death Lotus.

Fighting Cactus: It's a fighting cactus, what more do you want. It can fire needles or punch people, that's about it.
Strangler Vine: A carnivorous mass of vines, can strangle 20 men at once before eating them.
Death Lotus: Engulfs people, takes all their blood, then controls the corpse like a mindless puppet to spread it's seeds.
