I know it's been around for many years, but I've never had a chance to play. To make matters worse, I know almost nothing about it other than it's about vampires, their power struggle and the desire to hide behind the masquerade.

Could someone please tell me which sourcebooks I need to buy to be able to play in some of the games on the site? I know they have gone through some revisions and re-releases and I want to make sure I get those that most people play.

Thanks.

The V20 is frankly all you need and they are sold as pdf. You only run into troubles if people really want to run the oldest editions, harder to get and more expensive.

Pfft. The Masquerade is for those idiots in the Camarilla who believe we should hide ourselves from our food. Lions don't tell gazelles they are other gazelles, do they? No. They look at the gazelle and say "I'm a lion, and I'm going to eat you".

Think for yourself. Know the Traditions but don't be bound to eternity by them. Explore yourself and the Beast. Be what you are - a superior predator.

And most lions can't use Dominate or Presence to enthrall their prey, either.

As said before, the 20th Anniversary Edition has all that you need. V20 Lore of the Clans is a good second book to check out. It's one of those games that you can stick to the basics, or buy the dozens of sourcebooks that describe different factions in detail. I'd suggest finding a game to get into, preferably a game for newly embraced vampires where your lack of metaknowledge is more of a benefit than a burden, and as you run into things you want to know more about whether a specific clan, sect, time period, etc. you can check out the relevant sourcebook.

Hope this helps.

If you look online you can find PDF versions of pretty much every book and sometimes you can find them for free. All you got to do is read through them to gain an understanding and for all those questions you have that books don't have. You have a plethora of knowledge from the players just on this weave. Hope this helps you and hope to see you as a player soon
