Looking for Adventurers!
Game Description
Intro
One minute you were going about your day like normal, and the next minute everything got fuzzy. When you finally woke up you were laying on a hard stone floor in a small stone-walled room. Now, sitting up and trying to make sense of what's going on, you're sure that your otherwise uneventful day has suddenly taken a turn for the worse. Looking around the room, it seems that you are not the only person who has unexpectedly shown up here. Several other people are sitting, laying, and standing around the room. None of them look familiar, some of them look a bit dangerous, and all of them look confused. You notice that everyone in the room is wearing a ring that is glowing with a bright bluish light. You look down at your own hands and realized that your ring is glowing as well. You've had the ring for quite a while and, although it has some minor magical qualities, it has never glowed before. Strange things are afoot in this little stone room.
Description
"Guests of Khael" will be a game of discovery. Where are you? Why are you there? Who brought you there? What do they want? Who do you need to clobber to get back home? All of these questions and more will be explored as the mystery unfolds throughout the game.
We will start with 5 or 6 characters and everyone will begin the game at 5th level. We'll be using D&D 3.5 rules, and the game will be set in the Forgotten Realms. I expect that there will be a fair amount of combat involved in the game. But I would like to build a group of players who have great Roleplaying skills, because I would really like to see the game driven by Roleplay and creative thinking, and not just be a hack & slash game where players expect to slay anything that moves. Some NPCs that you meet in the game will need killed. Some may end up being allies. And others may fall somewhere in that grey area between ally and adversary.
Players should plan on posting at least once a day during the week. I don't plan on updating the game on the weekends, but players are welcome to post on the weekends if they like or they can take the weekend off to focus on more important things (like family or video games). If you don't have time to add a quality post once a day, then this probably isn't the game for you. Of course we all have vacations and such, but in general the pace of the game will be one quality post a day (weekdays).
When it comes to posts, I'm looking for players who write more than just one sentence replies. Occasionally that's all there is to post, but the vast majority of players posts should be well-written quality posts, and not just one liners. When XP award time comes around, a player's quality of posts will count positively towards your character's advancement.
About the DM
I have been playing D&D since before dirt. Me and my caveman friends played the old Boxed Sets with dice carved out of dinosaur bones. Over the years I've played every flavor of D&D (and a variety of other systems), and even spent a ton of money on 4th Edition books before realizing that D&D died with the retirement of 3.5 and that I'd need to return to the 3.5 books if I was going to enjoy a game that actually felt like playing D&D.
I've played "Play by Email" and "Play By Post" forum-based D&D games quite a bit over the years. But since PBEM.com closed down several years ago I haven't had much luck finding a site popular enough to have a good base of players. And then I found Myth-Weavers this weekend, and I'm really impressed with what they've got set up here!
As a DM I try to be laid-back and fair. I like to reward creativity and quality roleplay. But mostly I just want to have fun, and I'm hoping to find a group of players that just want to have fun as well.
