Game Description

Welcome to Star Wars; Remnant of History, a Legacy Era game. Set six years after the end of Legacy: War, the setting of the game is intended as a new era; a progression of the ideas introduced in Legacy into a new potential continuity. Whilst at first glance the Galactic Federation is at peace, and the Galaxy is able to catch it's breath, there are still many smaller conflicts raging throughout the Galaxy. The work of the Triumvirate is never truly done. For more information, feel free to consult the Gazetter section of the forum, and ask me any further questions. I'm happy to help with details, as I know a home-brewed varient setting can be disconcerting to players.

Questions

  1. Who're the Player Characters?
Anyone. Yes, quite literally. I'd designed this game with the idea of a diverse, non-unified party, who end up together by chance (or perhaps Destiny) and have to work together. It's an old set-up, but it's fun, and can lead to some interesting situations and discussions. I'd prefer PCs to be somewhat co-operative types, and I'm requesting that all PCs be able to start the game on Coruscant, but beyond that, you have freedom. Don't abuse it. ;)
  2. I'm interested, but don't know the Legacy setting. Is that a handicap?
Not as much as it would be in most games. As I've said, this setting's moved on from the Legacy timeline, and whilst things might be easier for you if you know the basic setting, I've put up specific information for the current state of affairs in the forum, that should help get you up to speed. For any newbies to the Star Wars setting in general, I've also put together a basic guide to Galactic History, trying to bridge the gap between the current time period and the movies, which you can view here.
  3. Will you accept this source?
Probably. I have all the official Star Wars SAGA books, and there's nothing in any of them I'm outright banning. Keep in mind though, exotic elements will have to make sense, and I'm not over-keen on far fetched justifications for them. Always best to keep things simple IMO, unless you're sure the more complex answer works better.
  4. Can I play a Force User?
Yes... but be careful. Force Users tend to be the most common ap-type in Saga when they're allowed, and whilst having some in the party makes sense for this game, I'd like some mundane characters too. Even if we end up with only Force User applications, if I have ten Jedi aps, it's going to make yours harder to stand out, isn't it?

Remember, if in doubt, feel free to ask! I've tried to cover the basics, but there's always more to know. I'll add in any questions from the ad thread here.

Character CreationOk, applications are to be posted to the application thread, here.

Now, first, let's get the mechanical points out of the way
  • Level 4; any class.
  • Point Buy; 34 points
  • Credits; 20,000 base
  • Background must leave you on Coruscant, short term or long term

Now, background. I'm not going to issue much in the way of concrete limitations here; as I said above, I'd like a diverse party, and have a plan to tie you together. The only background element I require is that you are on Coruscant for the start of the game, for reasons either short term or long term. Many backgrounds won't even have to work to make that fit; Coruscant is still the Galactic Centre, capitol of the Federation Triumvirate. Going there briefly for mundane reasons will be entirely fitting for many characters, and in that case, I won't require you to state why you're there.

However, whilst I'm not going to rule anything off limits, I recommend being careful with background. I regard it as infinitely more important than statistics when it comes to applications. That's not to say you need to write a massive essay on your character's entire life story, but I prefer characters with history behind them, as well as characters with interesting personalities. Don't be afraid of focusing on writing over statistics

Also note, characters must be able to work in a team. Star Wars has a history of lone wolf characters, from Han Solo to Cade Skywalker, but in the end, the ones that survive learn how to work with people, how to co-operate and understand them. I don't require perfect party unity, and in fact will try to avoid that (some debate makes things interesting ) but a group that works well together makes the game more fun for everyone.

I'd also like everyone to declare a Destiny or Legacy prior to start of play. GM's choice is an option, but remember, you'll have no access to destiny points until you either discover your legacy, or work out what your destiny might be. Fate will lead you towards discovery, don't worry, but in the immediate term, the option to spend Destiny Points simply won't be available to you.
