Game Description

Pathfinder - The Hollow Crown

Within the hollow crown
That rounds the mortal temples of a king
Keeps Death his court, and there the antic sits,
Scoffing his state and mocking at his pomp,
Allowing him a breath, a little scene,
To monarchize, be feared, and kill with looks.
- William Shakespeare, Richard II

OOC: Game Summary.

Kingmaker. Become a king or queen, or guide one in their rule and share in the spoils. But will you forge a kingdom of steel in the image of your homeland, or will something new and beautiful be born?

This version of the highly popular adventure path will concentrate on RP and politicing. Building a kingdom from the ground up will not be a quick or easy endeavour. Characters will be given a great deal of freedom of choice and of creation, and will face appropriate consequences as well as rewards for their actions.

I intend to run this game over the long term. As such, I cannot guarantee posting more than once per week. Real Life is the real killer DM. Most PBP games end due to frustrated expectations or burnout, and in order to avoid this some variability of pacing is needed. I will communicate my posting schedule with you ahead of time, and aim to give you heads up on any disruption.

Characters will be created using 24 point buy with two traits. One trait should be from the Kingmaker player's guide, available here. Please read the character creation guidelines in this thread carefully before posting an application here. Detailed backgrounds and plot hooks are encouraged, as is character motivation for wanting to rule. I will favour a mostly human party from Brevoy. Party balance in terms of classes is encouraged but by no means required.

I will not be accepting any applications with Gunslingers. My version of Golarion has not yet developed black powder weapons. I am somewhat wary of alchemists, but I have seen the class RPd extremely well in Golarion, so am allowing them.

I will definitely be favouring background and personality over "crunch" - RP is key here, and in a long-term sandbox campaign like Kingmaker most "crunchy" character flaws can be worked around or compensated for.

Two slots are already filled, as angelomnipotent will be playing a human summoner and Chromatism will be playing a human wizard. Hence, only two players for a final party of four are required.

Part 1: Stolen Land.

Be it so known that the bearer of this charter has been charged
by the Swordlords of Restov, acting upon the greater good and
authority vested within them by the office of the Regent of the
Dragonscale Throne, has granted the right of exploration and travel
within the wilderness region known as the Greenbelt. Exploration
should be limited to an area no further than thirty-six miles east and
west and sixty miles south of Oleg’s Trading Post. The carrier of
this charter should also strive against banditry and other unlawful
behavior to be encountered. The punishment for unrepentant banditry
remains, as always, execution by sword or rope. So witnessed on this
24th day of Calistril, under watchful eye of the Lordship of Restov
and authority granted by Lord Noleski Surtova, current Regent of
the Dragonscale Throne.

Choice, necessity or luck has found you in possession of such a charter, and so in a small group of adventurers heading towards Oleg's trading post. The sweep of the Greenbelt lies before you, filled with mystery and possibility.

Sandwiched between Brevoy and the squabbling River Kingdoms, the Stolen Lands have a reputation for holding unpredictable danger. Restov has chartered several groups of explorers to compile maps of this land. Such an action can only be a precursor to settlement, or conquest. Opportunity is knocking at the door. Shall you keep her waiting?
