The Eve of Darkness
Much has changed in the last 100 years. It started when Jason Northcote came to the James Randi Educational Foundation, where a million dollar prize could be redeemed by showing a psychic phenomenon in a scientifically controlled environment. Under the watchful eye of the scientists, Northcote showed his telekinetic ability, moving a dime across the table with nothing more than his mind.
This was only the start. Soon afterwards, many other paranormal and preternatural phenomenon came out into the open. Magic became an area of respectable study. And yet, it didn't hamper the technology area. If anything, it enhanced it. Lightning elementals supplement some of the power grid in the city. A firewall in your computer might actually have sentience.
