Blood in the Sands
It has been a long time since Americans first struck out west, with their homesteads, and their guns, and their families. The West has proven to be a brutal mistress, be you a farmer, a businessman, or a lawman. Wild animals eat livestock, harsh weather and difficult soil drain crops, gansters and bandits rob trains, banks, saloons, or any place where the money is good, and many people die on the streets in a hail of gunfire brought on by dueling.
It's a rough age, but the issues of a time like this don't just stop there.
Recently, with the construction of another railroad system within the West strange things have been happening. One by one, settlements are being destroyed. Families hung from tall trees, houses burned to the ground, but the weirdest thing about all of this? No valuables are stolen, often until after the fact...as if whoever did this had no care for money.
It only took three settlements going down, a trade outpost, a cosmopolitan town, and a small collection of homesteads, before the U.S. Marshalls took an interest in what was going on. The only issue? A U.S. Marshall investigating these events would likely find himself dead on the inside of a week...what the U.S. Marshalls need are some seasoned individuals who can walk about without drawing too much attention too early and whom can get things done.
This is where you come in. The fate of the West, hell maybe even the US or the world rests on your shoulders as you head out to try and figure out what in the hell is going on.
