Game Description

Know, oh prince, that in the time before the oceans drank Atlantis and the gleaming cities, there was an age undreamed of, when shining kingdoms lay spread across the world like blue mantles beneath the stars—Ilium, Argos, Milezia, Sheba, Amazonia with its copper-skinned warrior women and mossgrown palisades, Léoneis with its chivalry, Kukuanaland with it's ebony Giant-Kings, Mu with its mummy-haunted tombs, Nunkai with its God Spire rising above the lush valley of Eden. It was an age of swords and sorcery, when witches, warriors, and thieves tread the jeweled thrones of Earth under their sandalled feet. It is I, the chronicler, who alone can tell thee of their sagas. Let me tell you of the days of high adventure!

Welcome to Sword & Sorcery, a Savage Worlds game inspired by the classic pulp fantasy stories of Conan, Kull, Imaro, Dossouye, Fafhrd, and the Grey Mouser.

What do I need to play?
All you need to play is Savage Worlds Deluxe. You will also be allowed to use Beasts & Barbarians Golden Edition (B&B) for player options such as edges and powers. This book is optional for everyone except characters that want to use spells/powers, since the B&B magic system is specially adapted for Sword & Sorcery flavour. You should ignore all the setting lore in B&B, since we will be playing in a homebrew world.

What is the setting?
The setting is a homebrew world inspired by sword & sorcery fiction and Morten Braten's World of Xoth. Don't worry about reading all the lore I've written up; just be familiar with the culture you have chosen for your character. The cultures and religions detailed in the pdf are not a complete account of all that exists in the world. If you want to play a character from another culture, such as a ninja or samurai from the far East, just ask me and we can work it in.

Are there any special rules?
Yes, the house rules and specific setting rules you should be aware of are detailed in the bookmarked pdf file. The changes to core skills, edges, and hindrances from B&B are detailed in the "Setting Rules" section for those who do not have B&B. The simplified encumbrance system and weapon and armour list is included in the "Gear" section. This replaces the weapon and armour tables in the core rules and in B&B, but is not radically different. The "Cultural Archetypes" section lists the 5 cultural templates (Savage, Nomad, Civilized, Enlightened, Decadent, Degenerate) which replace the default Human benefits from the core rules.

How often do I need to post?
Please try to post at least once a day. If you miss a day once in a while, that's ok, but let's try to keep the game moving. However, in a combat or a chase scene, you will have 24 hours to post your actions starting from the moment your turn comes up. If you don't post in time, you will be put on hold and the next character or enemy in line will go.
