Suffer Little Children
Kanchan Hiu's death started the whole thing, which is unfortunate as he doesn't remember anything about it. The last thing he remembers is a few weeks ago when he was working as a sound editor, keeping up with the followers on his Lunar trance music blog, and occasionally doing clandestine spy-work for the solar-system-wide conspiracy known as Firewall. A typical week in other words. Then he woke up in the body bank being told that he'd lost weeks of his life in a poof and he was now wearing someone else's face that he'd have to get reshaped to resemble his own... what a mess.
Actually, it really started before that with whoever started stealing egos from across the Inner System. They worked with the professional mind-smugglers known as Nine Lives which helped to cover their tracks but they were definitely targeting folks who had had their minds rewritten by the incomprehensibly inhuman bio-digital exsurgent virus, created by the seed AIs that destroyed the Earth known as the TITANs. These people, called asyncs by the more scientific and psychics by the more superstitious, are a mystery in themselves so the idea of someone collecting them for unknown reasons is... uncertain. Of course what little footage the team has of this person suggests that he might be an async himself.
Which brings up a good point: this thing really started when two teams of Firewall agents, one from the domed cities of Earth's moon and the other from the dusty plains of Mars, convened to investigate Kanchan Hiu's death. Their search led them to a Triad boss named Sheng, a Nine Lives warehouse, and eventually to the water-city of Shackle at Luna's southern pole. Oh, and this same mystery-person might be trying to co-opt the orbital bombardment satellites keeping Earth under quarantine. The mystery continues to spiral and questions are certainly more numerous than answers but with the fate of transhumanity in the balance that better change soon.
This game is ported over from the Wizards of the Coast boards. New players are accepted but must join the part in media res.
