Game Description

Rain beats down from on high as the divines cried over the battle field as eerie silence over took the circle of Magi. Through their darkened hoods they looked out at the desolate waste of Arcet. Dry winds blew over ruined towers, bloody men, an decimated land, "It is complete." One said to break the silence. The others were not so willing to speak.

Many a year did this option not come to the thought of man as the Arcet armies pillaged all of Aternis. Many thought the war could win without this drastic of a measure but with the fall of the Wall it was obvious that there was no stopping their savage attacks, "We should of gotten the forces out. They could have been saved." the smallest Magi said softly as if trying to keep it to himself.

One of the Magi looked over at him, "An risk the Raven King escaping? I'm sorry brother for all the lives that we ended prematurely but you knew what risk we ran if we waited."

The smaller Magi remained silent as he surveyed the land in disgust, "So much..." His voice trailed off lost in thought.

"Come we must depart." As one trailed off the others followed. The crunching of charred bones and skin sounded like an explosion with each step. The feelings of dread sank deep in some an others felt nothing but an obligation of duty. Doing what they had to do to save loved ones.

A shrill scream echoed through the air that caused all of the Magi to jump out of their skin. All of them pulled out their stave and prepared to cast a spell in an instant, "I thought we killed everything is this Divines forsaken land!"

The smallest Magi was speechless with horror as he tried to comprehend was he saw crawling out of the ground. It was not man nor beast. It was as if the Divines most horrid, vile creation was placed upon this spot of land to torment his mind. It's back arched to a hunch, that caused the mans elbows touch his knees, with one foot bone spines protruding for the arch. It's face was non-existent besides a huge maw so huge it seemed as if the creature could swallow him whole. The Magi's silence finally broke as the creature thrust it's bone spike of an arm at him, "WE DID!"

All the Magi looked over as their small ally barley dodged the thrust. One of them tossed a lightning bolt at the creature causing it to shake an sequel in pain, "RUN!"

The group turned to run but saw as more of these creatures, each distorted in their own way, dig themselves out of the ground roaring in agony an rage, "WE'RE SURROUNDED!"

The Magi tried to deduce a way out. There had to be a way out, "There wasn't suppose to be anything living left. What are these things?!"

As one pounced atop a Magi an ripped him to shreds the smallest noticed a tarnished cloak on it's back an embroiled on the cloak was a symbol of Palor, "They're us..."

In seconds the swarm of creatures were upon the group of Magi ripping them to shreds. The smallest one dropped his stave an started running clutching his necklace. It started to glow as he muttered words in Draconic.The necklace shined fiercer as he speed up hearing his friends blood curdling screams. Almost done with his incantation the small Magi ran into one of the cratures. It smiled with glee as it slashed towards his face. As the blade sunk into the Magi's face he blinked out of existence.

A second later he appeared in his chambers. Sweat drenched the Magi as he fell to all fours to catch his breath. Blood seeped through his wound that destroyed his right eye. The horrors he saw made him wish they would have taken both, "What have we created...."



Welcome To Aeternis Tenebris

It has been a decade since the Arcet wars ravaged the land. Life has returned to normal as it can, but rumors still surround the annihilation of Arcet. The clerics tending to the Dark Border, the corrupted land between Arcet and Angelus Obduco, speak of deformed shapes creeping into site than disappearing into the never ending grey haze that covers the land of Arcet. Others state that the clerics are just seeing this due to lack of activity across the area. None dare test either theory for fear of what may lay in the haze. Many more just wish to forget the horrors that happened to the surrounding lands of Arcet an never speak about it.

One lesson learned by all those who survived the ordeal is that evil is not just created by creatures but the most vile of the vile can walk among them everyday. How little do they all know how true that is. If they think Arcet was a travesty the plans one of the many sheep among the flock has will be Armageddon in their eyes. This sheep is biding their time to strike, to deceit, to destroy. There are many pawns, many plans, and many webs. Can you find the shreds of truth an stop another devastation from forsaking your homeland or will you fail an watch as the world around you burns for YOUR failures?

WARNING!!!!! this is going to be a horror based campaign. I will try to respect everyone's line of decency but they may be crossed now an again to create tension an horror. I do not, nor condone, using someone's "hard limit", a.k.a. line, as a target to hit till they break. If I step so far out of line you feel very uncomfortable tell me an I shall adjust accordingly.

Now that that's out of the way here is the set up for the campaign.

Rules and Regulations: 0) Enjoy thy self an let thy self be one with your character.
1) This is a realistic campaign. Hunger, thirst, weight, age, ect WILL apply. No sense in having horror if you never have precious resources you may run out of.
2) Magic items that grant no need to eat, sleep, or drink, or diminish the need to, do not exist in a transportable way. They exist in stationary forms but can not be brought along on an adventure. Spells that produce food, water, an shelter on the other hand do exist. Alterations may be made depending on effect. Have to look more in depth on it.
3) Magic items are rare thus cost more to buy an are A LOT rarer to find in cities BUT will bring in pretty amounts of gold if sold.
4) You think you know all the MM's forwards an backwards? THINK AGAIN! The monsters and stats you know are gone! Anything that isn't humanoid, or a natural animal is getting a revamped(with the exception of races presented in books)! They may not even be seen!
5) Teleportation/Divination spells may be altered. Those who will have the ability to cast them a thread will be posted upon acceptance into the game to discuss any alterations so we can come upon an agreement rather than me railroading you.
6) Any item that reproduces items (gold,daggers,arrows, ect) do not exist.
7) Rezzing is possible but not easily obtained. An if you get killed does the story end? Heck no! We can still have fun. Remember that bandit you killed? Yeah....he's waiting for you on the other side.
8) Taint does exist but will be worked differently. Rather than gaining a symptom as soon as you enter the threshold it will take effects as soon as you enter the next one.
9) Other rules may pop up but will be discussed with players to inform them of future installment. This does not mean if you do something an I think you know what that probably should happen/work that way/be available ect. will be denounced that second. You'll just have a streak of bad luck with a situation like that.

I'm sorry if they seem like stringent rules I'm just trying to create a campaign that is actually horrifying an tough not easily survivable with magic.

Now for those still interested it's time for the fun stuff! Character creation!

Your Character an You!
The Person: Willing to get lost in the story an is willing to crate an in depth Character with goals, family, ect.
Starting lvl: 12 health max at lvl 1 roll the rest
Stats: All 9+1d10 (Aka Str = 9+1d0 and so on)
Alignment: Does not apply BUT you must follow the code of your class if it has a code.
Race: Any from the following books(variants allowed), but if you want to play an exotic race it MUST LA +2 or lower be either humanoid or Monstrous humanoid AND NOT from any MM. Please consult me if any questions still persist.
Gear: Max 2 magic items. Each 3X normal cost.
Starting Gold: that of a lvl 12.
Books you can use: PHB 1/2, All Completes, Hero's of Horror(HoH), Expanded Psionic's Handbook, Unearthed Arcana(UA), Magic Item Compendium, Spell Compendium, and Tome of Battle(ToB) A recommended read will be Torn Asunder. It's a third party book that makes crit's really f-in hurt. I will be using it as well as some of the rules from HoH which will be brought into more detail upon accepting characters.
Backstory: Write it as you please if you create a town I will add it into the map so don't worry about screwing anything up. ALSO would like one of the warriors (Pally/Cleric/Fighter) to be a veteran of the war an talk to me about it if one is willing to work closely with me about it.
Other info: If you want to make a slight alteration to your class to fit your character more consult me. I will hear it our but be prepared to give something up to gain something. 1 trait per flaw MAX 2 flaws and 4 traits.
