The Chosen Ones
The Gods laugh and jest as we fight their wars. We pray for relief, yet they turn a blind eye. The leaders of the main, powerful keeps are nothing but corrupt zealots. The leaders of the smaller, less powerful keeps are nothing but wanna-be corrupt powerful zealots. They follow the orders given to them by their gods as if there is no other option. Most people believe that the Gods have the common races best interest in mind, however The Chosen Ones know that they are nothing but selfish beings that feed on their own narcissism.
A Chosen One is normally only born once every fifty thousand years and the Gods make it a point to hunt them down and exterminate them. However they have been so busy with their little games that, well, it may have slipped though the cracks. Someone may even have plans this time for not one Chosen was born, but many were.
