A darkness has turned its attention to our world. Most can't-or won't-notice, and a majority of those who do are driven mad by the knowledge of what lies ahead. Old secrets and new horrors lie in wait for the unwary, preying on the weak, the strong, and the unstable with indifference. Secret societies organize dark agendas and ancient evils stir in their millennia-long torpor. Things are bad, and getting worse.
Bleak as things are, the grand majority of people go about their daily lives completely unaware of what lurks in the shadows. Sure, violent crime is on the rise, wars loom on the horizon, and doomsayers preach from every street corner, but there's nothing strange or new about that... is there?
This is a world in desperate need of heroes, and it isn't one to be picky. Those capable of seeing beyond the veil of shadow and revealing the true nature of the rising threat are unwittingly beginning to gather. Fate, or some higher power, is pulling at them.
A few of these potential heroes have made their way aboard the Shangri-La, a luxury yacht and partyboat. There was a sweepstakes contest for a three-day cruise of the Caribbean, full of gentle breezes and salt air. However, as always, there will be trouble in paradise.
