Crown of Khal
This is a 5e game in a homebrew world. Although there will be a main story arc, an effort will be made to provide for a sandbox feel.
Redemption, honor and revenge will be the main themes in the central story arc. The auxiliary story lines will follow themes of survival, community, adventure, horror and intrigue. The local setting from which most of the story will spring is a small rag-tag refugee village built on the tundra above a very young dwarven hold. These communities are striving to survive, having carved out a niche on the fringe of a world spanning cataclysm. The crown of the new dwarven king is a beacon of hope in a time of dark despair.
The Player Character party will form, an occasionally reluctant, entourage to the second born of a fallen dwarven clan. This minor noble is tasked with laying claim to an abandoned mine recently recovered from goblin invaders. The outlook changes when a strange wizard reveals what majesty lies just beyond the rubble. Joined by a motley band of refugees from the great cataclysm, our dwarven hero uncovers lore of an epic past that may very well alter the hopeless present.
Over three decades of DM and world building experience has been pared down to the freshest and most exciting ideas, while adhering to traditional high fantasy tropes. A desire to justify and integrate these beloved elements has led to the creation of the Dragon's Dream campaign setting. An effort has been made to reveal the past and present of this deep and rich homebrew campaign setting through the NPCs that players will be interacting with from the very start. While packed with backstory, this campaign world is designed to remain malleable and responsive to the player that seeks to write their character's own history.
