The Salvation of Pavonis
The Hive World of Pavonis is a troubled one located on the dangerous Eastern Fringe of the Imperium. It has suffered civil rebellion, Dark Eldar raids, and is known to be the former prison of a powerful C’Tan Shard known as Nightbringer and several years later it was the subject of a Tau invasion. All of these threats were removed or in the case of the C’tan Shard released by one group and by one Space Marine, Captain Uriel Ventris of the Ultramarines 4th Company. During the Tau invasion he pushed them back and fleeing across the dark expanses of the Eastern Fringe back to their minor empire. With the many threats in the Imperium the world has spent several years rebuilding and proving itself a staunchly Imperial World through tithes. That was until it went dark over a year ago, the Sectors Governor fearing a multitude of threats and having limited resources due to Tyranid invasions, hostile Ork systems nearby and the like has called out for assistance in investigating the fate of Pavonis. Suspecting a multitude of possible Xeno threats the Deathwatch has called out for a squad to crush whatever may lie on poor Pavonis.
