From the peaceful silence of space, the planet Bhumi does not look so terribly different from any other- and indeed, it appears less interesting than some; no rings adorn the planet, no great storms tear across its surface. Yet the blue and green sphere teems with activity and life. And even now, though its surface seems so still, its people reach up from the earth and begin to move out into the vast vacuum that surrounds them, the celestial void in which the other planets are hung. As they venture forward from that small sphere for the first time they peer towards the unknown beyond with great eyes of glass, and reach out to touch the closest planets with arcing fingers of magic and fire- the strange tools of beings waking to a new age.
