Evangelions: Alternate Reality
15 years ago the First Seed, Adam, was discovered. Had the Katsuragi Expedition been unable to defeat him, Adam would have annihilated all of Humanity. As it was, they succeeded, but only at great cost. Half the world's population was wiped out in the numerous natural disasters caused by the total destruction of Antarctica. This event has come to be known as Second Impact, and it changed the world, both literally and figuratively. A new threat had been revealed, one which mankind was not prepared for, and which was far more advanced than even their best weaponry.
Since Second Impact, a secretive organization has sprung up, dedicated to defending the world against this new threat. Theoretically run by the UN, NERV has spent the last 15 years researching, developing, and creating humanity's best hope; the Evangelions. NERV's first base, Nerv-00, was built in Tokyo-3 over the Geo-Front of Earth's Second Seed, Lilith. A handful of other bases have been built since Tokyo-3, including Nerv-05 located in San-Oak, California.
Nerv-05 has recruited five people to pilot the Evangelions located within the base; five children on whose shoulders the fate of the world rests. Many do not believe such odds should be entrusted to children. Others believe the Evangelions themselves can't be trusted, being created in Adam's image. Rival agencies seek to undermine Nerv, from within and without. But Nerv-05 houses a secret weapon; an untested, experimental signal generator inside an artificial Geo-Front designed to lure Angels to it and away from Nerv-00 and Lilith.
If the five pilots fail to defend Nerve-05 from the Angels, there will be nothing stopping the monsters from assaulting Nerv-00. And if they breach the Geo-Front, Earth will bear witness to a Third Impact, and almost certainly the extinction of Humanity.
