Game Description

Department of Experimental PsycologyThe Social Neuroscience research group at the Department of Experimental Psychology is currently seeking volunteers for the Human Social Interaction Experiment. The Social Neuroscience group studies a diverse range of topics in evolutionary psychology including social cognition, social networks, social intelligence, mate choice, and social coordination.

The Human Social Interaction Experiment is an evolutionary psychology study that aims to investigate how groups of people interact and tap in to the “wisdom of the crowd”. During the experiment, participants' social interactions will be monitored using video surveillance and vocal recording equipment. We are currently looking for healthy male and female volunteers aged 18-30. The experiment requires a minimum of four volunteers. Therefore, simultaneous registration with friends is encouraged. Interested participants may register their place here. Please note registration is mandatory. Places are limited and are expected to fill quickly.

The StoryIn a universe not so different from our own, government corruption and increasing pressure from foreign powers has led to widespread poverty among those with so little already; though the rich continue to rise in power. You poor souls are not as lucky as poverty has led you to desperate measures. A friend informed you that you could make good money by volunteering for medical and psychological experimentation. Uncomfortable with the risks of medical experimentation you’ve opted to look into volunteering for psychological experimentation and one day while using a computer at the public library, because you can’t even afford your own internet much less a computer, you stumble upon the above add and it looked appealing. You clicked on the add and read on to discover that all these crazy psychologist wanted to do was put you up in some dorm with a few other people and see how you all interact; food is provided and they’ll pay you six thousand dollars for the month that you’re there. Only real downside is that you won’t be allowed to contact friends or family for the duration, for some this’ll be tough, for others it may be a relief.

Characters will be made using the D20 modern rules with considerations for the setting (near modern day with technology similar to what is available RL). They will be made at 1st level, max hit points, elite array for stats (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8 ).

Backgrounds: First and foremost I'd like to know how your character became so desperately impoverished. I think this should be a great starting point to tell the story of where your character came from and they got to this point in their lives. Second, I want to know what's important to your character? Why are they so desperate for money aside from the obvious need to survive? Last, please include some personality traits, ideals and character flaws to help define who your character is as a person.
