Game Description

For years The Rasputin Academy has turned out some of the finest wizard of this world. Located on an Island, the natural boundary between the Academy and the rest of the world made it a safe place to practice magic without accidentally destroying someone’s home. Accidents happen and from time to time a student or teacher is lost but this is the nature of magic. However, in the last month there have been four unnatural deaths on the island, the last occurring just last night. You've been summoned by the King to travel to the island and discover what’s going on. Under his decree not a single person has been allowed on or off the island since the discovery of the last body and the only known transport on or off had been out of service. This means among the 35 students and 20 Teachers and various faculty support staff, there is a murderer running loose.

OK, so I’m looking to run a variant of the locked room mystery with the Pathfinder game setting. A few things I want to establish right away because I think these will probably be make or break ideas for some players.
1. This will be a very little to almost non existent magic campaign. Wait wait, I hear you say but your murder mystery takes place at a magic academy. So it does but believe me when I say the PC’s will have access to VERY LITTLE MAGIC if any. This includes class abilities, spell like abilities, supernatural abilities. Not everything obviously but if you create a character with something along those lines I will tell you beforehand what to expect. This doesn't mean you can’t magic a Wizard or a Druid just expect to not have access to a lot of their stuff.
2 This comes part and parcel with the first rule, why would I make a Wizard if I don’t get access to my spells? Well this is also going to be a HEAVY role playing adventure. There will be rolls, mostly for puzzles and interactions, but there will be very very very limited combat. In fact it could be possible to solve the mystery without a single round of combat every coming to be. You've been warned.
3. With the first two rules in mind you should probably focus more on the character than the character stats, although this is a mystery and having skills and such will be very handy.
4. Although it says you've been summoned I will open the character creation to two other possibilities, student and faculty/teacher. Other than that try to think of a reason why the King would choose you to be placed on this island to sort this crud out.

I'm a huge fan of murder mysteries, been reading since I could pick out books for myself at the library. I've even taken a few classes on detective fiction. I also love Pathfinder, this is my chance to try and squeeze the two together and see what comes out. This is the first time I've run a game on Myth-Weavers but from the games I've played in I see that a lot of them get bogged down by combat so by eliminating that I think I can hopefully keep things moving. I am looking for people who can post at least once a day. Life happens, sure, and the holidays do approach so obviously that will be taken into consideration but please try to inform me if you can't for some reason post for any sort prolonged time period.

Character Gen:
7th level with WBL (again remember the whole not much magic rule so you'll want to ask before you buy something)
Full HP at every level (since I'm not expecting you to use but if you need it.)
Classes: are all pretty much open (No 3rd party or Homebrew)
Races: Try to stick to common, if you've got a really good reason not to be go for it and we'll see what happens.
Ability Scores: 25 Point Buy (Don't forget to add 4th level attribute bonus)
Magic: If your character gets spells/spell like abilities/supernatural abilities please put them on the sheet like you normally would and I'll kinda go over what will and won't work and other stuff.
Sheets: Along with the profile on the Char. Gen Thread I'd like a complete sheet for you to be considered. I say complete because if I choose you and then later on you're all like ooh I forgot that +1 I get from being Super Awesome. Well if it isn't on the sheet it don't exist. Same for buying things, you're on an Island with fairly limited resources outside of what a magic school would have. If you wanna have it you should probably buy it.
Length: I honestly don't see this being a terribly long game however what I'd like is to do is build a team out of it that works well together and can handle mystery type situations well and that I know will post in timely fashions. I can build mysteries til the end of time.
