Proxima
A lifetime gone in an instant as you sailed frozen through the stars. The azure skies of Earth gave way to the inky void of space, then to a dreamless slumber, and finally to the angry red dwarf star dominating the planet below. They call the planet Mengpo, after "Old Lady Meng" and her role in reincarnation.
From orbit, Mengpo looks like a plague-ravaged Earth. Deep blue oceans and rich brown terrain are laid out in unfamiliar continents. They are frosted with swirling white clouds. But the comforting green of field and forest is conspicuously absent, replaced by haunting strokes of black and gray. You will have to make a living down there, on a strange world beneath a strange star. Whatever your motivation, whatever you came out here to find or left behind on Earth, this is your life now. Your home.
The players are an away team on the first extrasolar colony. They are the ones who will explore ruins on the planet's surface, perform rescue missions, and and more. They are the adventurers, as it were.
The colony left with 200 people, with more expected to come later but potentially not for many years. For now, you are on your own.
