The Grande Temple of Jing
The Grande Temple of Jing was designed to provide a rich and varied play experience for those who love dungeon crawls.
There are many epic features and things in the temple. Massive caverns, bizarre magic-filled rooms, colossal monsters, and epic loot are the norm.
Here are some key examples:
• Jing lives within the temple in a secret place that nobody has ever found. From that place she watches all who roam its halls
• Invited or not, everyone who enters the Grande Temple of Jing is given a chance to find their way safely out - but the odds are certainly not in their favor. This is especially true because Jing interferes with their journey, toying with them for her personal amusement.
Depending on her whims and desires, Jing can change anything she wants in the temple to suit her trickster humor. She can make a door that lead to one room lead to another room instead. She can make a monster that was killed yesterday spring back to life, unaware that it ever died. And she can make a trap that was disarmed or broken fixed, armed, and ready to kill.
• When people prove themselves worthy to Jing, they earn her favor in the form of blessings and boons. Blessings allow them to travel in certain areas of the temple, and perhaps to leave it. Boons give them enchantments or items that help them. Boons can be anything, but the most famous is the Boon of Life, which means that Jing will resurrect people she likes when they die.
• Honored Guests are given an artifact that they may carry with them through the temple. The artifact grows in power as they do. This artifact, called a Keyed Jing Enchanted Item, is both their curse and their saving grace.
