The Order of Uruldur
1000 years ago the most important man in the world died.
The grand prophet Uruldur worked his entire life collecting and recording what he referred to as "the omens". Of course during his time he was dismissed as just another lunatic foretelling the end of the world. So he died poor and alone with nothing but a large collection of mad scribblings to keep him company.
All of that changed when the first "tear" opened. Precisely when and where Uruldur had predicted a wellspring of great power burst from the ground. Properly harnessed it granted great powers and war erupted over it. Perhaps more terrifying than the powers it granted, the gods could not foresee or utilize the power. It quickly became apparent that the power of the "tears" were beyond that of gods.
Soon it became clear that Uruldur had predicted the first tear, and when the second opened many people were eagerly awaiting it. The second war was far bloodier than the first.
Generations passed and more tears opened as Uruldur predicted. Over time the wars over the tears shifted to wars over Uruldur's writings. A secret war began as factions began collecting records of the prophet's work and destroying any they could not.
Now very few remember the writings of Uruldur and even fewer know of the true cause of the tear wars. Those that do fight amongst themselves to be in the proper place when a tear opens. Often they never even know who they are fighting.
The Order of Uruldur is perhaps the most powerful remaining of these factions. Recently they have taken four young recruits and trained them in their secret ways. What nefarious purposes does the Order serve? What terrible power do they wield? And most importantly, what fate is in store for these young recruits?
